It’s not even like this is the first time we’ve had this bad ouroboros situation. I’m quite sure I’ve described the circular logic that was in play when I lost my security clearance in 1991. “Homosexual behavior” (broadly defined, of course) was officially against UCMJ because queer people could be compromised by threats of blackmail. The compromising information for the blackmail would be threats to reveal the person’s queer status. :recycle:

Bigotry never has made sense, has it?

Sigh, that last line showing that she also has to deal with plenty of misogny, because of course, men with no experience in any of what this woman is going through can’t stay silent and just offer solidarity

A friend tells me that some Dems may be flipping on opposing
SB9, the euphemistically titled “Save Women’s Sports Act,” which would ban trans women, and girls from sports. There is a Senate Dem caucus meeting today at 11.

I’ll update later- but calls may need to be made. Likely to specific people.

Hopefully not.

Update

Friend says the latest whip count is back down to 4 dem defectors. Which they say means there is no five alarm fire.

Whew!

I will not not willingly go to a mental institution if things get to that point. Not just not willingly. I will not let them take me. Period. And I think you know what I mean. That report should scare the everliving fuck out of everyone. Not just trans people. Everyone. Much like the due process issue, if they can do that to one group, they can do that to anyone they want. This is fascism. It’s not like fascism. It’s not hints of fascism. It’s straight up, dictionary definition fascism.

I wish people could understand this very basic lesson from the history of fascism. If one of us are at risk, we’re ALL at risk. Period.

The Oscar-nominated actor tells Sky News: “It is terrible to be so careful about what you say. Even in an interview like this. It goes into the world, and you can get misconstrued and misrepresented and cancelled in [the click of a finger].”

And yet no hesitation to sing the praises of Rowling, an absolute monster who is obviously extremely controversial right now. Why, it’s almost as though all the people supposedly terrified of the almighty cancel culture’s reign of social justice terror are barely affected by it at all.
