I’m tellin’ ya, these guys musta been closet AV geeks, cos what projectionists they are!
Actually, walling off one state and putting all the Republicans (or at least all the MAGAts and GQPs) there doesn’t really sound like such a bad idea. Except then Trump could claim victory because he got his wall built.
This has been making the rounds lately, and yeah, it’s pretty dumb. But I definitely did not expect this morning to see a crossover between the few lawyer discussions I follow and Tom Scott’s informational/comedy videos, as PopeHat retweeted Gary Brannan’s post about it:
And, of course, the icing on the dumb cake:
I tried to read “Dune” once…and I come from an old-school SF family (we used to have copies of Amazing Stories, Astounding Stories - all those old pulp magazines up in the attic…sigh, such memories), and I thought it was the most boring thing. Like, if I wanna read about spice wars, I’ll read about their history on Terra.
But yeah, those boys wuz dumb!
(To be fair, I think this was just a suggestion from one of their backers, not someone leading the project, but…)
That was a perfect response.
And later…
it’s always super frustrating when liberals get distracted by the “outrage of the moment” started by the right, but then again it’s also super satisfying to be reminded the right can be distracted, too.
The reason this is getting airplay is that there is a trial going forward with Hershey’s and 11 other chocolate companies about their slave trade practices.
They probably paid to get this rant on Fox, and then probably used a lot of sockpuppet accounts to tweet about it to get it blanketing the news cycle.
By having this out there, news feeds based on algorithms are going to show this stupid rant, instead of stuff about the trial.
My sister in law used to work in social media. One year she ended up having to work all Christmas because her boss was involved in a major scandal. She spent the whole weekend tweeting out all kinds of other stories to bury the story online.
Since my daughter and I sell chocolate chip cookies, we are following this lawsuit and interested in using chocolate cultivated with ethical labor practices.
We have a local colleague who is the founder of Cocoa Asante. Ella is 1st generation Ghanaian-American. She travels to Ghana. We have spoken to her about how to ensure that we use ethically sourced chocolate. She told us that it is really difficult to tell, because of the way the chocolate is sold at markets, it’s hard to trace an individual batch back to a specific farm.
We use Ghiradhelli chocolate. They are owned by Lindt and Sprungli. They have a Bean to Bar policy that they rolled out recently. I know it has been a few years in the making.
A lot of these companies seem to have declarations like this, so I’m not sure how much of it is greenwashing and how much of it is real. They have a complicated document that gets into their euphemistically phrased “sustainability practices.”
It’s unclear to me if there is any outside oversight of these programs.
We are still seeking more information on ethical chocolate sources; for now, it seems like the best option that is reasonably priced.
It was a different time. How was he supposed to know it was wrong?
Yeah, remember when we all used to say the n-word? ??? ???
Uh oh, Wisconsin isn’t gonna take this lightly, I hope! Damned NYC elites, LOL!
He’s sorry he’s ignorant? Fucking-aaaaaaaaaay…
“RU-486, was developed by a Jew during WWII to be used in gas chambers”
By a Jewish person? for use in gas chambers? Really? That dude is completely bananapants
