My previous cat had to wear one and it just made his life hell, i found that the soft collars worked better for him.

If we ever have to do it again (hopefully not) we’ll have to use one of the soft collars.
Talia’s no longer with us but she was a sweetheart. She loved to be petted, but once you started, she walked to the other side of the bed/couch/whatever, so you had to follow to do it. Cat logic.
