🌈 Unicorn Chasers 🌈

On the plus side, at least chimera cats are real, even if that specific one wasn’t.

I never knew dogs’ reflexes could be so fast until we got one that was an excellent catcher. One of his favourite games is to sit opposite you, no more than two feet away, and catch a tennis ball you quickly flick out of your hands in a random direction past his head - could be to the left, right, or above his head. Two feet isn’t much time to process, and he remains seated and catches cleanly, with just the bare minimum movement necessary.

I’m certain it wasn’t luck for the collie here. Love how clear it is in the slow-mo that they just wait until the right moment then grab.

We had a couple dogs who could easily catch V smol treats thrown directly at them. They’d get mad when they missed, too. tophat-biggrin

Flies. My parents had a dog who would catch flies when he was bored. He’d sit perfectly still, then catch it in his mouth. Then let it go and do it all over again. This would go on until the fly wised up and buzzed on out of there for good.

Once caught a fly in my bare hand.

I was sitting in my room with a friend, listening to music and chatting. A fly had somehow got in the house, and kept flying in between us. I finally got so mad I just reached out and grabbed the bastard. My friend gawped at me.

“Didja get him?”

“Oh, yeah,” I told him, grinning, as I got up and walked to the bathroom. I lifted the lid, and threw it into the toilet w/my excellent fastball. It stuck to the water, and I bid it an unfond farewell as I shut the lid and flushed. I then washed my hands of the whole disgusting affair. tophat-biggrin

When I came back, I told him about the time I spat a sip of water at a fly who’d been annoying me while I tried to read in the backyard, and knocked it right into the kiddie pool “pond” we had for a little while. (Rolling your tongue [see below] helps a lot.)

Without his witnessing that day’s events, I doubt he’d’ve believed me.

I’ve caught a fly mid-flight maybe once or twice. And during high school (or maybe middle school) I smacked/killed a fly with a ruler as it was buzzing around. I just swung at the air, killed it, and the dead fly landed in someone’s hair

Oh, I do hope they deserved it.

Our youngest cat will catch gnats this way. Tho he doesn’t catch and release those the way he does regular flies
The regular flies never actually escape. When they get too damaged, after 20 times or so, he eats them.

I believe the gray one brought the blue toy to the fluffernutter and then sacked out. The blue ball is one of the fluff’s favorites
