A relative had a new French coworker who didn’t speak much of the local language, and one day the water cooler conversation was about slugs. Lots of hobby gardeners at that workplace I guess? No one knew the French word for slug. They settled on “escargot sans maison.”
So a snail is “escargot avec maison.”

In German now they are usually “Nacktschnecken”, but I have seen some older texts that called them “Schnecken ohne Haus”, the exact equivalent of what you came up with in French. 
Land slugs are unpleasant to touch but I personally think can be charming otherwise. Many sea slugs are beatiful.

Well, Sarah Chalke is fluent in German.
In the German, i.e. dubbed, version of Scrubs they switched this to Danish. Which works surprisingly well. Using Danish seems to be some sort of default; for some reason I haven’t been able to determine yet, the Muppets’ Swedish Chef morphed into being Danish as well.
