Australian Virus Lab Loses Track of Hundreds of Deadly Germs in ‘Major’ Biosecurity Breach

Let he who hasn’t lost track of a deadly virus throw the first test tube, I say.
And anyway, it’s just hendra virus, lyssavirus, and hantavirus.

Not all Australians, not even all Queenslanders. (He’s wearing all the regalia of a Queensland State of Origin Rugby League fan.)

But, yeah, far too many of us.

The usual employer tricks when using freelancers/temps – slow, late and no payment, reduced or no breaks, imposed extra hours, charges and reductions relating to props and costume, limited heating, no changing facilities, right up to disappearing without trace (but with all the takings).

On Christmas Day that Santa has a job working for a Russian family 2-3 hours work for a small family party with only 2 children (big earner).

Q “What is the snowman doing in the grocery aisle?”
A “Picking his nose”

ETA The UK professional Santas have a website where they share information (about employers, spaces and costumes etc.).

I put this here of all places because there are several threads this might go in, depending on which way I look at it. At any rate it illustrates the difficulties involved in dealing with the past sometimes. So maybe just read it and do your own evaluation.

This is weird.

I’ve been on this antibiotic (have I told you about this antibiotic?) that makes me nauseated most afternoons after I take it with breakfast.

I had a cold for three weeks. During that time I had NO nausea whatsoever.

The cold is over. And I must be feeling better, because the nausea is back.

I’ve asked three doctors so far – primary care, infectious disease, and gastroenterologist – and none of them can explain it.

I’m tempted to write to JAMA or the NEJM.

I have a weird side effect if I take gravol; when it wears off, I get muscle spasms in my legs. My doc has never heard of it before, and can’t figure out why.

Could it be for you that the post-nasal drip was coating the stomach to protect against the nausea? A bit gross.

Is this an actual attempt to meet fire safety code? Yowza

Brilliant idea! I sure had liters of that.

Hmm, I wonder if it could be bottled as treatment for nausea . . .

Yum. The problem with anything that coats the stomach is that it might also block the absorption of things like antibiotics, or other medications.

Ooh, tasty!
You can also slice them, bread the slice and fry it in a pan - voilà, vegetarian Schnitzel.
