Here are some models to go with the model trash
Now I want a wurst…
Quick! To the Wienermobile!
I do kind of wonder about hopping on a plane to Vienna, getting a wurst from one of these stands, and then flying home…
Ah, New York.
WTAF, that’s nuts…
Well, that’s one worry I don’t have to have. So I got that goin’ for me, which is nice.
I saw the Lipizzaners once when I was a child; they came to Toronto. I guess they were on a world tour or something.
They have occasionally done those; most of the time when we get to see them in N America, they’re from Tempel Farm in the US. They’ve had former Spanish Riding School members as performers and riders’ and horses’ trainers.
That’s where I saw them, decades ago. Gorgeous horses! I did wonder at the time how harsh the trainers were with them.
They’re not. Only those horses who show themselves as children to be likely candidates for the Airs Above the Ground are selected. Lipizzans are taught and encouraged, not “broken,” an awful term and practice.
Lipizzans mature slowly, and aren’t backed (gotten used to a saddle, having a light young rider lie across the saddle several times - standing and eventually walking, eventually throwing a leg over) at 3 like most riding horses.
I’ve read everything Lipizzan-related what I could lay my hands on since childhood. The books I love the most are by Alois Podhajsky, once head of the Spanish Riding School, who saved them during and after ww2.
Did you see the Disney tv show that featured them? That’s where I first heard of them.
Thank you, good to hear!
Of course! It includes scenes of Podhajsky riding some of his charges!
You’re more than welcome!
Podhajsky also regularly took the men and horses on cross-country rides, so they could gallop (XLNT for horses who spend much time working collected, which is the opposite of stretching out their necks and taking off) and even jump!
“You know, people keep saying cancer is bad, but have you tried being a cancer? It’s f—— awesome,” the voice goes on to say.
Can just barely tell the person behind it is anti-Musk rather than pro-Musk. “Being a cancer is good” sounds pretty on-brand for the “compassion is a mind virus” guy.
Brilliant. More, please!
