Yes. In the films (except in the 2007 remake I haven’t seen yet) it was George Nader, but for the pulp magazine covers anyone would do.

D & I had both been under the misapprehension that this was just another one of those garden variety (may be a poor choice of phrase) sudden manhole ejections, when they go flying skyward b/c sewer gas buildup (or worse).

This Is Not That. Flying slabs of sidewalk might have killed those poor people :face_with_spiral_eyes: :face_with_spiral_eyes: :face_with_spiral_eyes:
