Spain, Portugal and parts of France hit by massive power outage
A nationwide power outage hit Spain and Portugal on Monday, leaving millions without electricity. Reports indicate issues with the European electric grid.
‘Extreme temperature variations in Spain’ contributed to outage - Portuguese grid officials
We have a bit more for you now from the Portuguese energy company REN (Rede Eletrica Nacional).
It says that “due to extreme temperature variations in the interior or Spain, there were anomalous oscillations in the very high voltage lines (400 KV), a phenomenon known as ‘induced atmospheric vibration’”.
“These oscillations caused synchronisation failures between the electrical systems, leading to successive disturbances across the interconnected European network.”
“Monday is Confederate Memorial Day, one of three Confederate-related holidays in the state. It is recognized on the fourth Monday in April every year.”
“In addition to Confederate Memorial Day, Alabama also celebrates Confederate Gen. Robert E. Lee’s birthday on the same day that the U.S. observes a holiday for civil rights leader Rev. Martin Luther King, Jr.
In June, the state has a holiday to honor Jefferson Davis, who was president of the Confederacy.”
Alabama has been Alabama-ing extra hard since the election. I suppose I should be posting the seemingly never ending stream of willful stupidity and hate, but it’s Alabama, and no one really expects anything different. Rightfully so, I might add. I’m tired, I’m scared for my kiddo’s future, and until she is 19 (because that’s the age of legal majority here), I’m trapped here.

What I posted did indeed bring that poem to mind. I’m not sure the two disagree all that much; one is about what parents say, the other about what they do.
