Well, fuck

That’s a type of oboe, probably an English Horn.

Cool.

Strange that a pop band with one didn’t catch on.

This doesn’t surprise me in the least. People make all sorts of excuses for Disney, but in my mind they have always been an evil empire.

That’s a damn shame. I never for a moment forgot that Disney’s efforts at inclusivity (and their treating complaining MAGA dipshits as though they didn’t even exist) was just a cynical corporate strategy and not based on any actual values, but it was still a really heartening sign because it indicated that Disney saw greater representation and embracing diversity as where the money is- a sign that the bigots were the minority and economically insignificant, and the average American wants a more diverse and progressive outlook in their entertainment. Now that they’re swinging the other way, it’s a dark sign that either the bigots are the majority or Disney is so terrified of Trump’s power that they’re going to at least pretend they’re the majority to avoid consequences.

I’ve felt that way since I was a kid.

Back then, they refused to allow their hit classic animated movies to be shown on TV (because someone might record them on the VCR) and charged $89.95 per movie for the tape ($265 in today’s money).

Rich kids got to see all their classics, poor kids weren’t allowed to see any of them.

The bigots are not in the majority, but at the moment they do have the power to punish anyone who hurts their wittle fee-fees. And anything that does not involve groveling to them and telling them how great and wonderful they are hurts their fee-fees. The corporate types don’t understand that you cannot satisfy them, you only put off the reckoning. Well, some might. Costco seems like they are willing to tell them to fuck off. But most are happy to throw people to the wolves to keep them from their door. For a short time, at least.

I wonder, have there really been more plane crashes this year or have the couple of horrific ones (and Trump’s claims that they’re caused by DEI, trans pilots who weren’t even there, etc. while defunding every federal agency involved with flight safety) brought more attention to them?
