As we used to say, JFC on a FC.
That has to be satire, right? There’s no way anyone who is sane would see that as anything but a jab at the whole deranged concept, right? Right?
Satire is dead. It had a good run, but real life caught it and now it is dead. Funny no more.
This is how I think he got bought. He loves to play real estate mogul, and wow, all that free land where no one hardly lives.
And so much money to be made cleaning it up too!
(He may have gotten a tip from Dick Cheney on how big that pot of money can be.)
I know Trump didn’t actually make the video, but he looked at a video portraying him as a sort of hyper-Saddam Hussein, and thought that was the message he wanted to give. There’s always been this talk of Trump and his “dictator aesthetic,” but he’s really going above and beyond.
Truly, satire is dead. There’s just no dividing line with MAGA, and never has been. Whatever the intent behind the video - and given the use of “AI,” it becomes impossible to tell how much of this is deliberately ridiculous and how much is just incompetence (the prompter just going along with whatever output was provided) - Trump saw it and liked it. So it’s definitely not satire in that context. As you say, the whole concept is so deranged, that an honest advocacy of the idea ends up looking like… this.
The combination of the authoritarian and the ridiculous has always been a hallmark of MAGA imagery, with the ridiculousness being somewhat unsettling in itself because it’s not intended to be self-mocking (real mockery is definitely not allowed). It’s not clear how the ridiculousness functions, semiotically - or even if it’s intended to be ridiculous, or the iconography of authoritarianism has just been so embraced and exaggerated to the point where it’s only ridiculous to those outside the movement.
Trumps next plan is to use nukes to split the San Andreas fault, making new beachside real estate in the San Fernando valley.
Given that he could totally suggest that plan…
This is just me every day now… with out the Pedro Pascal charm, tho.
Another well, fuck
The big difference here is that Lex Luthor divested himself from his business empire in order to avoid conflicts of interests. Now the least realistic plot point in a film about an alien with superpowers.
Of course they will.
Most jurors in US pipeline case against Greenpeace have fossil fuel industry ties
What a co-winky-dink!
I know I should stop being shocked at how tone-deaf and clueless the Republicans can be, but wow, this is out there. “Trans people are a danger to young women! But let’s welcome guys who rape and traffic young women, as our heroes!”
Yup, save the children really means abuse the children to the GOP.
I’d say “save the children” translates to “only conservative men are allowed to abuse children”.
I wonder if shitheads who post and act this way will counteract much any financial effects of today’s mass boycott.
Anyway, I’ve gathered that this kind of moron has no sense of the boycott’s bigger purpose-- increasing awareness, activism and solidarity.
Let’s hope the boycotters today will compensate and do a “buy local Saturday” shopping trip tomorrow for non-Krasnov supporting businesses.
