Well, fuck

We should all be so lucky as to deserve a eulogy of the sort John Cleese gave Graham Chapman.

It was and amazingly appropriate for Bal. So many of us in the Chicago area are friends due to his influence and hospitality and we try to follow his example.

It most certainly is! (And I’m not just saying that because I have some close friends that teach classes there. )

I was hit especially hard by the graffiti wall, which has a lot of general ‘thank you for being here’ notes to the museum itself, but also a lot of expression of pain, joy, loss, and community. There were so many short stories of people finally finding others like themselves, of lost loves, and found ones too. I kept reading until I couldn’t see anymore through the tears.

FWIW, freetaxusa.com is what I’ve been using for online filing for the last couple of years. Free for federal online filing, and it was $15 to add on Missouri filing. Compared to something like $80 last time I used TaxAct…

Congratulations and all. I could imagine that you couldn’t use Direct File, but you should have been able to use Free File with online fillable forms. That’s what I did, and I had about a dozen disparate sources of income last year. It took about 20 forms, but I was able to file entirely online for free.

Have these people ever opened a Bible and read Matthew 25:35?

I don’t think so?

No, they just listen to whatever their right wing preacher tells them is in there, and off they go. Their preacher confirms their hateful biases, so whatever he says must be correct.

A lot of MAGAt churches don’t talk about Jesus anymore, other than some “MAGAt Jesus” who looks a whole lot like a cross between Rambo and Il Douche. The guy in the Bible is way too woke, with all this “care for the poor and love your neighbor” stuff.

WTF. The whole purpose of that restaurant is to feed people who can’t afford to eat. It’s pay what you can. They also allow people to work for their dinner if they want. And homeless people in the Toms River downtown library isn’t new. I’ve spent a lot of time in that library. There were always a few homeless people there getting out of the elements for a few hours. Bon Jovi’s restaurant didn’t start that. Asshole.

ETA: I read the article. Interesting. This particular Soul Kitchen is in the library. I know where that is. It used to be a Dunkin. The Dunkin didn’t survive COVID. I’d say this is a worthy upgrade. So there may be more homeless people there than before, but downtown Toms River has always had that.

So here’s the county inviting locals to paint friendly, welcoming murals at the local park.

Lead levels here are 15 times the maximum safe level.

Scientists recommend not entering the area without full PPE.

There are no plans to clean the park.

They’ll be starting kids’ activities soon.
