Reading the essay now… it’s actually very enlightening both about Mormon beliefs and about how BG illustrated it.
Capitalist they maybe, but they were too woke for the modern right. They had a social movement, led by Ishka that changed their misogynistic society… And even Quark could not abide genocide when given the chance to make a mint by selling a biological weapon that would kill tens of millions…

Exactly. The whole Terran empire stuff is pretty much what they’d imagine space exploration should actually be, imperialism and conquest… Of course, by the time of the 24th century, things were not great for the former Terran empire… I mean if there was a more tortured Irishman in the 24th century than Miles O’Brien, it was his mirror universe doppleganger, Smiley O’Brien!

This report makes me wonder if the tactic of weaponizing the legal system is getting worse:

In cases of foreclosure the HOA could profit from the sale of the properties, too:

Bloom had his blood cleansed of microplastics – or so he thought. Ironically, the plastics in medical equipment may have seeped microplastics into his blood.
Masks we wear on planes and such are also made of plastic. Particles can break off and fly into our lungs. I suppose the filters in our homes’ air purifiers do the same; we hope to clean dust, mold, allergens and so on from the air we breathe, but may end up breathing microplastics instead.
