Yeah it’s a great stunt. There’s a thing in Russian Circus where they will have like 20 outfit changes happening on stage - some kind of cleverly designed outfits and some showmanship - so I think she is a bit referencing that.

The character of Marie Buchanon might be based on Mary Ellen Pleasant, who amassed a fortune out in California prior to the civil war and even raised funds for John Brown… Prior to heading out to San Fran, she worked on the underground railroad with her first husband, who left her money to continue their work when he passed away:
I haven’t seen this film, yet, though, but if she’s meant to be a successful business woman who works with the underground railroad, this seems a likely inspiration.
Anyway, the trailer looked great and I’m looking forward to it. It’s about time Tubman got a film about her.
