Well this is interesting

Damn; everyone is posting so many good videos, it’s going to take me days to watch all of them!

Let’s see. Three times the size. That Czech’s out. I’m sure they are very Prague of it.

Maybe Adrián should consider coating himself in something unpalatable, next time he’s out on the water:

I guess he forgot to pack his shark repellant in his utility belt that day;

I think that’s it in the utility belt, on his left hip. He’s trying to reach it with his right hand.

Also: don’t climb rope ladders like that, kids. Try facing the outside edge; one hand on the “front” side of the ladder, one hand on the “back”. Ditto for feet. It can mean less of that “backwards 45-degree tilt” thing that makes climbing really hard.

I have watched this happen in WV where I’m from. Mobility is a privilege of wealth and/or education. Those who had the ability and the opportunity left, the ones who could not became increasingly bitter and vulnerable to right wing blame games. The shell of my home state is all that iseft, and i can’t even go back to visit.

Yep.

In my early days of engineering, I was talking to some control room operators at a pulp mill. They asked me about my salary, and were surprised it was lower than theirs. One older operator piped up and explained it to the others. Pointing at me, he said “You own your job. You can go anywhere you want.” Then he waved his hand pointing at everyone else. “We are owned by our job. We can’t leave.”

Update on the Most Mysterious Song on the Internet.

It was from a band named Fex. And is titled “The Subways of your Mind.”

I am disappointed it is no longer a mystery, but I’m glad these guys know how famous they are.

Also youth. I just packed two bags and moved states via Greyhound (Anywhere in the country, $68 or less!) 3 times when I was young and starting out. Can’t do that quite so easily when you have a spouse and kids and multiple pets, and several years of stuff that you’ve accumulated, plus a local support network.

Or age. The few times we’ve moved states since then were definitely privilege that comes from age - company paid for relocation twice (there and back again), and the third time we paid but it was after we’d been in one place for a decade, established and saving.

There’s definitely a space in the middle where it would be really difficult and mean major sacrifices.

From what I’ve gathered, that’s basically a rebel group of park rangers.

They’re awesome.

Is this the same group from the gov’t shutdown in Oct. 2013?

I don’t know.

But I bought some of their swag. You go Smokey!

Auckland :new_zealand: Star, Aug 22, 1969. As found in the bottom of a dresser drawer, and used for packing material, only to resurface this morning. Vancouver police were less than sympathetic to their “hippie” population of the day… RCMP, of course, saw nothing.

And this nugget posted beside it… “Florida Man”, 1969 edition.
