Well this is interesting

The elder Trudeau was a bit crankier than Justin.

Ah, back before Hollywood moved to LA.

Fun stuff, thanks for sharing!

The interesting thing (for me) is that this predates NFTs.

According to the Wikipedias, Hollywood (CA, incorporated 1903) was named after an estate in Illinois. Hollywood, Florida didn’t come about until much later in 1921.

Huh, interesting!

Yeah, until just now I always assumed the town in Florida came first. Because it’s further east and white people moved west in the U.S., I suppose.

I’m going to speculate that after Hollywood, California became famous, naming things Hollywood dried up and Springfield became the favored name for everywhere.

Final Score:
Springfield 67 - Hollywood 24

Both of these hypotheses are new since I was in school, and since they started discovering exoplanets, and since computers developed enough for them to start running serious models of how star systems form.

Reminds me of when I was younger and I found an old astronomy textbook in a bargain bin at the library book sale and bought it. So many grainy black and white photos and paragraphs saying “we don’t know yet” about this or that. Things which we did know by the time I read it. It was from after I was born, but before the Hubble telescope and several space probe missions.

So cool to think how much has changed just in my lifetime!
