Iâm going to speculate that after Hollywood, California became famous, naming things Hollywood dried up and Springfield became the favored name for everywhere.

Both of these hypotheses are new since I was in school, and since they started discovering exoplanets, and since computers developed enough for them to start running serious models of how star systems form.
Reminds me of when I was younger and I found an old astronomy textbook in a bargain bin at the library book sale and bought it. So many grainy black and white photos and paragraphs saying âwe donât know yetâ about this or that. Things which we did know by the time I read it. It was from after I was born, but before the Hubble telescope and several space probe missions.
