(Re)listening to Modest Mouse’s discography currently, i had never heard their really early stuff. I wouldn’t say its particularly noteworthy but it’s interesting hearing them at their start. I’m now at the Good News For People Who Love Bad News album, and its nostalgic as hell and god damn i love it.
Peter Murphy’s new album, Silver Shade. Omg. The prince of darkness is BACK, baby.
Oh! Nice!
Listening to Billy Porter’s interview with Questlove. I didn’t know he did a song with Sesame Street, in the interview he said it was one of his most favorite things he’s collaborated with. Checked it out and it’s amazing
A few weeks ago i heard a song from a Mexican artist i didn’t know of, it really stuck with me so i decided i wanted to listen to her discography when i had some free time. The artist is Natalia Lafourcade, i know nothing about her but as i’m listening to her evolution from the start at some point i have the slow realization… she worked on some of the songs from Coco.
I’ve been enjoying her stuff greatly, a couple of her songs even brought me to tears.
Some songs i recommend
Derecho De Nacimiento & Hasta La Raiz
Catching up on music from one of my favorite bands (Los Amigos Invisibles). I missed the last couple of albums they released, there’s some bangers in there so here’s two you might like.
Poorly-researched fantastical song about Laika the dog fared pretty poorly. Failed to launch? Burned up on reentry? There has to be an appropriate pun or metaphor here.
Some serious vote tampering?
Do you demand a recount?
It’s A Strange Day, so…
Another strange song for A Strange Day:
This one doesn’t sound quite as good, but the thumbnail’s a total BAMF:
I was playing this Yardbirds CD (known as the eponymous LP or Roger the Engineer) at work one day, and a Black co-worker who really digs the blues, soul, & R ‘n’ B asked who it was as we shook our booties. I told her, “The Yardbirds - a buncha white English kids recorded this back in '66,” and she was pleasantly surprised.
She’s amazing!!!
