Watched Eurythmics at the BBC – my standout
Sound is unfortunately not as pure as was shown.
While some of the episodes were already voiced by Johnny Hardwick, the rest of the season will be voiced by Toby Huss… I wonder if you’ll be able to tell a difference in the voices? Obviously, he’ll be credited once he takes over.
Doctor Who (contains spoilers)
I haven’t kept up, for various reasons, but I’d been hoping for a longer run for that particular, um, situation? Storyline? (Trying to be non-spoilery here… )
I’m woefully deficient on NuWho so I really don’t know what to make of the other bit of news the article drops. I’m more familiar with the Classic era, and I need to catch up at some point.
Finally got to see Sinners. It was so good!
Saw a preview for this too, June 5 (I think @mindysan33 mentioned it a bit ago?).
I kind of want to go to see that in the theater!
Reyonlds jumps in the elevator with a studio head and yells, “Star Wars, but with meta jokes about anal intercourse and drug abuse!”
Think I’ll go see that. It’s playing nearby.
God damn it! The guy who voiced John Redcorn was just murdered, and according to his husband the motivation was homophobia:
Alan Tudyk is a treasure.
That’s like saying niagra falls is “damp”. That neighbor is a horrible person and tortured both of them.
A Dogma 2? Smith says he has an idea for it that could include the original cast (who are still with us) or could be a new cast…
yes please
Quite watchable for a film about bland people in bland settings doing bland things, but I never figured out how the business shenanigans and the supernatural shenanigans were meant to relate to each other.
ETA: Although the concern over the potential legal complications of American investors owning the rights to an original patent is a cute nod to this film’s borrowing the structure of Carnival of Souls.
Back in the late 90s, this is one of the earliest stories of Doctor Who that I remember seeing in its entirety.
I remember when the title “Pyramids of Mars” came up I thought “oh, boy, this is going to be great.” And then I was disappointed to find they spent most of the episode running around the grounds of a country manor.
This time around I was prepared for it, and I liked it a bit more. Judging by the comments, many people think this is one of the best episodes ever made. I can’t go that far, but it was OK.
One thing it gets right is the god Sutekh. He is intimidating even though he never gets out of his chair.
Interesting to note — this entire episode was shot on film, so it looks great.
I’m not remembering it well enough to answer confidently, but I seem to remember interpeting their connection as a commentary on greedy, shark-like behavior being a kind of “deadening,” zombie-like life? That may be way off base…
Such an excellent story!
