If they could use AI to create the entire film, they would.
From Midnight Pals:
Aronofsky: did you see my new AI-generated movie?
Barker: well i was going to
Barker: but then i thought
Barker: why waste time watching a movie like a chump?
Barker: when i could just get the AI to watch it and summarize it for me
Aronofsky:
Shelley: my guy makes a strong point
I was quite looking forward to the new Captain America film (donāt ask me why - Iāve always been a sucker for that Marvel shit).
Anyway, Iām halfway through and Iām following what little plot there is, but I fancied a break and decided to post here, which is now the highlight of my evening. (Fuckinā 'Ell)
My little dog, ever the critic, is bustinā out some snores next to me.
Thatās one I tried to watch back in the day, hoping to be entertained by how bad it was.
I turned it off. Lifeās too short, man.
Yup. Some of the legendary ābadā movies are very entertaining. Barring that, I often find them, if not actually good, at least interesting.
But Battlefield Earth was a dreary slog.
I guess I donāt that see making something R rated automatically makes it better? And of course, they invoke Tarantino⦠again, meh. But I guess āadultā just means blood and sex, not anything much deeper than thatā¦
I also donāt see the need for an edgier Star Wars. Of course one could write a more violent script to justify it, but it would be very easy to make that the whole focal point which is lazy writing. Alternatively he could put together something original in the sci-fi genre, and while getting funding would be pretty difficult he would have better odds of making that than getting an R rated SW movie.
Iāve watched content from this YT channel before and while i donāt watch it regularly their content is pretty heartwarming, and at times inspiring. Saw this one earlier and it gave me feels
Theyāll finally let Han shoot first again?
Probably in a space ship in close quarters after discussing hamburgersā¦
Then heād have to get it cleaned before the cops catch on.
Andor has some cussing. Itās not R, but Iām guessing the streaming equivalent of PG13. Itās clearly intended for an older audience than most Star Wars stuff. I guess R rated would either be more sex or more gory violence. I donāt think we need that, but I would love more mature stories like Andor.
Yeah, Iāve heard good things about Andor (and might watch it at some point), but I donāt think thatās what Reynolds is suggesting. They (meaning the article) seem to be equating violence/sex with āadultā material, not really more complex storytelling with deeper meaning. Hence the Tarantino reference.
Honestly, it reminds me of the difference between the Game of Thrones shows and the books. They included a ton of sexposition to signal āadultā but there is much less of that in the books. Iād say both have a similar level of violence, but the show runners just focused on BOOBS way too much⦠they retained a good bit of the exploration of power, at least.
We already got an edgy, R-rated Star Wars. It was called Rebel Moon and it sucked.
Iām sure thereās an entire world out there where someone could fit a whole gamut of R (my question, would this allow more overt non-cis relationships?) related sci-fi material into, but why pick Star Wars (c), considering itās owned by Disney, one of the nastier media companies in terms of how many times it can cast āwall of lawyersā.
Reportedly airing on PBS next month.
Yeah, this was easily the scariest scene in the whole franchise already, and the sex was only implied:
When I saw that come up, I finally gave up on my library getting Mickey 7 and bought the e-book. Just finished it last night.
Is there any reason to wait to watch Mickey 17 until Iāve read Antimatter Blues? Iām not sure if there is any story overlap, and Iām trying to avoid spoilers.
