Whatcha Watchin'?

I had a friend who just happened to be scheduled to leave Poland to come to work in the U.S. a week after it happened, and she never went back. Every one of her family members who stayed has died of cancer (non-genetic). We also are friends with someone from Germany who said that at the time, Germans in her area were warned not to eat any local produce, eggs or dairy, or drink local water/drinks made from local water for one full year after Chernobyl. Everything was shipped in for a year to try to mitigate the ongoing dangers.

These are examples of the long term effects in two countries NEARBY, not even the same country.

Watched the first two episodes of the Watership Downs adaptationā€¦ itā€™s very well done, and just as dark as the book and original movie. Iā€™m loving the animation style. Worth it, if you want to hate humanity more than usually for a bit.

yes. thereā€™s a really staggering conference scene near the end of the 2nd episode where the two scientists lay out what they are looking at (to then Secretary Gorbachev, no less), and thatā€™s what they basically say. ā€œbut thatā€™s hundreds of miles awayā€¦ and there are millions of people in the city nearbyā€¦ā€ Gorbachev points out. everyone is just looking at them, stunned, when they mention the effects of the current radiation output on poland and germany, let alone the nearby cities.

Iā€™m ashamed to admit, I havenā€™t watched Season 4 yet. Iā€™m planning to get the 30-day Netflix trial, then cancel before the paid part starts. I just donā€™t feel like watching that much TV at the momentā€¦ even with the lure of Tom Ellis. Soon, though.

Season 4 is, as near as I can tell, half of a 20-episode story. You might be better off waiting for the rest of it. Until I realized that the last five eps seemed really weird.

Great setup though.

There are two earlier episodes of this series, but this is the linchpin, you might say.

All these years and The Rainbow Connection still makes me cry.

Did you see this show from the '80s that they never got to make?

Iā€™m very pleased at how thorough it is.

Going to see John Quick 3 tonight!

See John Quick. Quick John Quick.

But. Thatā€™s not a bad idea as Iā€™m alone this weekend and could attend a movie not ā€œPartner Approvedā€.

Saw Johnny be Quick. For me, the best in the series. General situation, look at this room full of odd objects, watch assorted assassins trash the place. I have always had a crush on Halle Barry. She and her two dogs make up for the puppy-cide from the first movie.

Iā€™m finishing up re-watching ST:TOS. Iā€™m really starting to appreciate how much the Kelvin timeline is taken from these old episodes.

I donā€™t watch much TV, but my husband and I just binged the second season of Fleabag on Prime. It is incredible. Thoughtful and moving, but still incredibly funny.

Now I have.

I found itā€¦ unappealing. Seemed like a puppet-based redo of Turn On.

I remember seeing that when it was broadcast!

We knew right away it would make it past episode 1.

Personally I was disappointed there was so little Kermit in it. It seemed like a Muppet take on Max Headroom, vaguely critiquing the newly minted 500 channel universe.

Imagine if Henson had been able to have a proper look at YouTube.

3 John 3 Quickiest was definitely well worth seeing in theatres. Extremely high production values, awesome set pieces, and really, the best comedy writing of the year.

iā€™ll be seeing it againā€¦
be seeing youā€¦

Better-than-average comic-book movies, with a multi-generational cast. Old people can be heroes too!

Itā€™s a heist film and then a caper film and both donā€™t try to be serious which make them work.

They did a good job making the kid look like early 90s Neilā€¦

I just liked the opening paragraph.

The team behind Rocketman have pulled off the most astonishing feat. Against all the odds, they have managed to produce a two-hour greatest hits musical that turns one of the most flamboyant, gifted and charismatic performing artists of the modern era into a bit of a bore.
