Been watching the second season of Dark… last night saw the 7th episode I think, where hannah (the mother of Jonas/wife of Michael/Mykkel) travels back in time 60 years, in order to DUMP Ulrich (who she’s been sleeping with) who has been in the mental institution in the 1950s for about a year at that point… that was… really fucked up. And now there is like 3 Jonas’ and two Noahs…Yet somehow, I don’t find their time travel stuff nearly so confusing as other films or TV shows, primarily because they’ve managed to stay relatively consistent in how time travel works. They don’t pull something in order to get a plot point in that doesn’t mesh with the way they’ve set time travel up in the series. I think we’ll finish it up today or tomorrow? Looking forward to the last season.
Also, been catching up on adventure Time still, and we’re in season 7 now, with the Marceline the Vampire Queen story arc.
It’s never a good sign when a protagonist has a magical head injury that prevents her from remembering her name or her life history but not how to walk or talk or dress herself. So we get to watch various other characters explaining the premise to her, and us, over and over, as if nobody’s ever heard of creepy government agencies or psychic powers before.
Yeah. I wish more shows would take the lead of the first Hell Boy, and have a secondary character new to the protagonist need to be trained. PK Dick used it in his novels a lot to great effect.
As a person who visits rural Alabama with more regularity than I would prefer, can confirm that many residents should have subtitles.
We stick out like sore thumbs down there as we speak flat, American English (and literally don’t look like the locals), except I sound Canadian more than anything else, particularly down there.
I’m surprised one isn’t up yet, since the second season has been out for a couple of weeks… There are some definite updates there, including a couple of new characters and newly discovered relationships…
The guy got shot multiple times in the chest and wound up face down in a swimming pool, while the people who could have saved him stood around and chatted with his android replica, thinking it was him.
Some kind of British sci-fi show that I do not understand
e.g. when a fictional future news show mentions the “Soviet Army” it’s not clear whether it’s a deliberate divergence from our reality or just a dumb mistake
but anyway it’s got the wolf guy from Being Human so there’s that
The new season of Veronica Mars is beating my expectations by a long way.
* Seriously, they go that extra bit with how bonkers the little burghers are in these coast towns. They promised it in the old series but never really followed through. They made the mistake of talking shit about the Hearsts directly. So by just going slightly farther into genre they now get to take their illustrations of terrible people just that better part farther.
Rory Kinnear? The son f the guy who used to be a vivisectionist and a mad scientist in “Help”, and the Mr. “NUTS!” Salt, father of Veruca, in Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory"?
