How pendantic are we being here? The Dewback was in the original theatrical release, albeit with different feet and mostly stationary.

i always wanted that dewback toy.

As did I. I got the Tauntaun but would have much preferred the Dewback as giant desert lizards were objectively better than ice planet lizards.

And sound effects were different, and the Cantina scene was different, and and and.

All the CGI on the original film sticks out, badly. Pedantry has nothing to do with it.

but there weren’t any CGI effects in the original film. it was basically all practical effects, which is why it was such a groundbreaking film. unless you mean the Special Edition version, and then, well, you got a point there.

Exactly. And I think that’s exactly why the CGI looks so bad – it’s a style clash.

Any of these Star Wars spinoffs, sequels, or whatever desperately need a dose of Ricky Schroeder, though. That would be neat.

I’m liking this idea. Maybe add a dash of Punky Brewster.

Just watched The Black Hole.

Haven’t watched it since I was much, much younger, but I saw it in the walmart bargain bin a while back and grabbed it on a whim.

Wow, it’s a weird movie to watch from today’s standards. The first half of it has taken me weeks to get through just due to how slow and uneventful it is. Then suddenly the last half picks up, everything starts happening at once, and then the minor drug trip at the end. Couple that with spaceships that take forever to vent through gaping holes, people floating unprotected in space (and even shouting!), and other silliness which they definitely knew better than in 1979…

But, once I finally made it to the part where things start happening, it was still a fun watch.

I see @Nonentity survived a trip through the wormhole and ended up eight minutes in their own past

Well, that was an interesting trip.

It did take an awful long time for the post to save, so I guess something glitched and did it twice. Funny that it took so long to make the second one visible. I guess that’s relativity for you.

The impeachment hearings. Finally figured out which Marvel villain Sondland reminds me of, though he’s the wimpy version:

And Michael Allen, who’s doing commentary on MacNeil-Lehrer’s coverage, looks like Joe Flaherty:

Or is it just me?

I didn’t see this live on the teevee, but twitter came through.

I know, right? Imagine having to rely on him for literally anything?

i had to turn it off after Sondland was done because i was so angry at Jordan, Nunes, and all the rest of those GOP assholes, and i didn’t want to drain my energy completely before the dem debates tonight. so exhausting!

He just said the Dems are gaslighting the country - (singing in funny lady voice ala Joanne Worley), ♫ It takes a pro to knoh-OHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH!!! ♫

I turned the sound down and am saying rude things.
