That’s your choice if you want to wait, though I always have links.
Get Out
I’m TS-motherfuckin’-A. We handle shit. That’s what we do. Consider this situation fuckin’ handled.
Xanadu as a shared watching experience. With Gene Kelly, Olivia Newton John, and some guy from The Warriors.
We started a month ago with Ralph Bakshi’s Fire and Ice. A week later, Heavy Metal. Then we systematized it to start at the end of the alphabet with Zardoz. We couldn’t acquire Yor, the Hunter From the Future, so tonight it’s X. Would never have otherwise come across this crazy roller-rink sci-fi musical. Paging Doctor Whedon…
It’s been 20-some movies, can we get a Marvel Cinematic Universe Musical? Even if it’s just one ep in the last season of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.
Oh shit, Xanadu just went all Disney.
My roommate is complaining that he’s not peaking on mushrooms right now. Gene Kelly is trying on suits and the world is all sparkly.
Gene Kelly is on roller skates.
My roommate has stated in inebriated terms that he wants to join this magic dance cult.
Damn. They got all the way to Xanadu. Awesome.
Just finished Russell T Davies’ “Year By Year.” That was incredible scary. No monsters, no zombies, no vampires – just extrapolation of today’s world to the next 15 years as seen through a single large family.
If that’s the future, then I want no part of it. But then I’ve wanted the last 40 years to be just a scary show instead of reality.
Featuring BRAND NEW audio commentary with star REB BROWN!
Unfortunately, the full length miniseries version remains commercially unavailable, but it’s out there somewhere. And isn’t this the greatest promotional blurb ever!?!?:
" a cave man hero " - Janet Maslin, The New York Times
Why, yes, yes he is. Or is he?
No way, man! You’re the hunter from the future!
With his hunting partners Hu, Wut, and Eiduno.
Third base!
Yes, don’t need to share any details about their meeting with Kublai Khan, or the hilarious scenes as they try to teach him to rollerskate. (That meeting was clearly laying the backstory for Kira to inspire the Wyld Stallyns to their own greatness in a later movie…)
(Edit to fix band name. It’s been a looooong time since I’ve seen that movie )
I’m not advocating anybody watches this, but who knows it might be interesting.
The new cut will be done by the film’s original director Zack Snyder, who left the production of the film before it was finished due to a family tragedy.
Joss Whedon, the director of The Avengers, was brought in to complete the film, but fans complained he made the film too light-hearted.
Also it was too orange, wasn’t it?
Tales from the Loop.
Finished the series last night. It’s one of those series you would probably pick up a bunch of things on a second watch, but I can’t say it’s worth the first watch yet.
Anyone else watched?
I liked it, but it would have been better without a person sitting near me asking constantly what’s going on. It’s oblique and doesn’t explain a lot of things. I liked the ending, but the person who wanted the story spoon fed to them with no ambiguity, did not.
This. Mind, there’s a 33-second lead time before it actually starts.
