Watching Stargate Universe. It is ⌠fine. Itâs basically a series where they stripped off the goof and camp of Stargate and tried to do the cinematography of Battlestart and the plot of Voyager. I like all the weird survival and engineering challenges, but I donât like many of the characters and the whole thing feels hollow.
It was just getting itâs stride when it was cancelled.
Itâs not bad. Iâm looking forward to this Rush-Young thing getting resolved. Itâs really hard to like anyone on this show right now. Both Atlantis and Universe feel way more dated than SG1. Iâm hoping to see a little more personality out of the show, because it just feels like Lost jump-cut after Battlestar jump cut into ⌠Greyâs Anatomy montage? I have a mid-to-late aughts contact high watching it.
sense and sensibility
According to Amazon itâs about âtwo sisterâs search for love in strict Victorian societyâ. the description seems at least twenty years out of date.
Jane Austen died in 1817, two years before Victoria was born. Victoria came to the throne in 1837, so youâre just about exactly right, although itâs probably not accurate to talk about Victorian society for a few years after that.
Dr stangelove. Included with prime.
âPeace is our Professionâ
Thatâs a perfect movie for the occasion! I put it on my list aside Sound of Music and Itâs a Wonderful Life.
We always watched those movies when I was growing up, but since my mom died I havenât. Kinda determined to make this the year that I do, but so far I havenât. Itâs weird and hard to explain, but when you shared something with someone and theyâre gone, itâs really hard.
Seems weird, like watching it would be like being there with them again, so that should be a good thing, but itâs a hard wall to break through.
I hear you. I havenât watched Aliens since my mother died; I couldnât bring myself to watch any version of A Christmas Carol this season, as that was my dadâs thing. Youâd think it would be a comfort, like an echo of their voices⌠but somehow it just doesnât feel right yet. Maybe someday it will.
Well, itâs not a remake, but also not a movie. Still⌠nice to see something new come out of Buckaroo Banzai after all this timeâŚ
Quite an impressive film. What a horrid little man the bishop was. I had to split it over two nights, which proved somewhat unfortunate, as the magical realism doesnât start in earnest until the latter half of the film.
âŚinvestigation, they uncover a grisly conspiracy of murder, space monsters and coffee.
first hideousness, now grisliness. What will the future bring?
The jitters? Heebie-jeebies? Lots of peeing?
I just finished the TV miniseries version last week. It was great and supposedly has more of the magic realism than the theatrical version.
