The Jose Ferrer version is probably one of my favorite movies, has been since the first time I saw it, back in my college days.

I liked the Gerard Depardieu version too, but for whatever reason it just didnā€™t have the same impact. Iā€™ve never been able to get into Roxanne, but Iā€™ve been meaning to give it another try. Seeing Peter Dinklageā€™s movie is much higher on my list though (thanks @LockeCJ!)

Although I donā€™t always agree with what he says, heā€™s always good to listen to. I especially enjoy his luxurious pronunciation of ā€œoooh-ashhh.ā€

And the macro photography of oooh-ashhes is always mesmerizing.

The Jose Ferrer one is epic. Itā€™s absolutely a masterpiece.

Excited to see the Peter Dinklage one. I love him and itā€™s brilliant casting.

Last night watched a movie from the mid 60ā€™s - Seconds - about a middle aged banker who disenchanted with his life engages a service that gives you a new life. It was strange and at times surreal. Directed by Frankenheimer of Manchurian Candidate movie. Let me know if you check it out. Can stream for free from archive.org

Iā€™m watching ā€œHelter Skelter: An American Mythā€, the first episode of six. Originally it aired on EPIX, but Iā€™m umā€¦watching it for free somewhere else.

Iā€™m not a Mansonhead, like some, but I am fascinated. My first exposure was when I was a kid at the time the book ā€œHelter Skelterā€ was first published, and a girl across the street, her parents had it, I think from ā€œBook of the Monthā€. Of course, I just looked at the pictures of blanked-out bodies printed in B&Wā€¦but I wondered just how bad it had been that they had to blank out the bodies?

Addendum: I love the name of the production company: Invented by Girls.

Oof. This is something. Itā€™s a really interesting premise, the idea of what a world would be like when men are no longer necessary for reproduction, and no new ones are being born. They unfortunately choose to squander the premise by proceeding in approximately the most hetero-normative way possible. Itā€™s remarkable how it manages to be both offensive and inoffensive in roughly equal measure. It is an accomplishment, but not a particularly laudable one.
If you have Amazon Prime, itā€™s free to watch, but I wouldnā€™t recommend paying more than that. Itā€™s definitely not worth going out of your way to see, but if you donā€™t have anything else to do, there are worse ways that you could spend your time.

what did you think of Tarantinoā€™s movie?

I didnā€™t see it. Iā€™ve read about it and Iā€™ve seen stillsā€¦but it doesnā€™t interest me because I donā€™t like the principal actors, nor do I care for retconning actual events. Iā€™m not a fan of QT to begin with.

And I canā€™t afford to see new movies, anyhow.

This review helped me make up my mind:

Addendum: I realize itā€™s a fairy tale, the ā€œOnce Upon a Timeā€ makes it that. I also find it obscene that with all the homeless folks in LA, much less anywhere else, that so much money can be spent on creating such spectacles just to make money for the makers and to entertain the non-homeless.

Very interesting. Iā€™m liking it so far; Iā€™m on the part about Robin.

I have only now found out that season 2 has started.

But it was 100% worth it to see this scene on the big screen.
