We had one of those in our house when I was a kid. Nobody knew where it came from.
Seeing that panther in the picture gave me a very powerful sense of dĆ©jĆ vu. Iām sure itās from when I was a little kid, but I canāt remember where I saw it or why itās stuck with me for so long (other than that itās a badass panther). I donāt remember it having a hole in the top, either.
It reminds me of these ceramic ashtrays. I remember the one in my grandmaās house being more classy than this, but once I went down the rabbit hole of image searching for half-remembered things, I found enough of them to realize that even though it only superficially looks like what I recall, it probably is what they actually looked like. Based on the pictures, I think it might have been one of those ceramic molds that you can buy and paint as a craft project, and then the shop fires it for you.
Maybe the panther was something similar.
well, it was definitely a house-furnishing meme of its time like the ashtray, but not sure about decorate-it-yourself, since the only color Iāve ever seen them in was solid black.
although solid black would probably be the most popular style with every individual; I mean, it is a panther, right? and just black would be easy to get a good result for an amateur. so, maybe?
I checked mine for a makerās mark but thereās nothing. a sticker or decal would have worn off before I got it, but there just might not have been one.
that ashtray is badass. Iāve never seen one, so youāve got me there.
Does anyone know of a good way to transcribe choppy audio?
I need to transcribe several hours of old radio recordings. For the Seattle project, Iāve previously transcribed about 6 to 7 hours by hand, mostly in 2007 and 2008.
I end up spending about half my time just going between my writing and sound software, on top of having to play audio, type, back up, repeat audio, type again, etc.
Use a site to add a graphic so itās now a video. upload to YouTube as private. It will autotranscribe. YouTube has a great transcription tool so use that to edit the auto transcription. Then download the file.
I ended up usng an old cd player instead of my computer. Itās not very creative, but I transcribed about 30 minutes of the recordings today. Which leaves about 3 hours to go.
Dunno if this will embed properly, but a score Iām still polishing. It gives every sign of being a redheaded stepchild, but weāll see.
Elegy for harpsichord (WIP) by Patrx2(Quick answer: it wonāt embed. Oh wellā¦)
I really like that. It puts me in mind of Chris Vrennaās soundtrack to American McGeeās Alice - not quite in style, but in the slightly discordant feel behind it.
Also, now I know what the notation for an arpeggio looks like, cheers
Thank you. Iām not sure itās quite where I want it yet, but then, Iām not sure it isnāt either. As I stated in the comments, Iāll give it a few days, then come back to it, hopefully a little less caught up in it. One needs a bit of distance for good editing.
What I wonāt do is consult Bachās examples, as suggested by the siteās counterpoint maven (who happens to be this person). I know my Bach, but I figured out years ago that my musical language doesnāt work the same way - my sense of rhythm is very different.
A drone piece from the album Iām probably going to release this weekend:
ā¦and itās out
The above score, now mildly revised (mainly changes in tempi near the end):

I made a thing! So proud of myself.
Cool!
Thank you
This is my beta attempt. Iām not good at pattern following. Itās a mental block, Iām sure, based on me not liking to be told what to do. But I do ok if I can find my own way.
The alpha attempt was kind of like the first waffle off a new iron, kinda fucked up but it was good for learning. A couple more iterations and I should have something worth wearing in the unlikely event that I leave the house. Or to give away.
Nice! Looks way more comfortable than one of those stiff commercial things. And more beard-friendly too.
I was looking over drawing gloves on Amazon the other day, but I didnāt really want to buy just yetā¦ so I crocheted some. No pattern, just freehand, trial-and-error. I think they turned out okay:
My first attempt is on the left. I made it with two strands of OmegaCrys yarn and a 1.9 mm hook. The resulting glove is thick, probably too thick for summer use, so I tried again. The glove on the right is one strand of the same yarn worked up with a 1.4 mm hook.
The next two pics are views of me wearing the one-strand glove:
I havenāt done much sketching on my tablet since making the gloves, but I did some brief tests, and the gloved parts of my hands donāt activate my tabletās touch screen. If I use these enough and like them, I might buy the real thing, but for now, these will do.
(The light hairs on blanket and gloves were contributed by my dog, Sheba. Sheās in perpetual shed, so itās hard to keep upā¦ )
Finally got the bars cut, painted, and installed over the mural, a couple weeks ago.
Here is the finished monster cage.
I just added a lace fringe to this skirt that my ex made me years ago. The bat material had this really unattractive edging with visible white stitching. Iād originally planned to add more simple lace but Iām on a multi tiered lace kick.
This is another skirt I added lace to a few months ago.
