I finally solved my vector drawing problem using rectangles transparent backgrounds and no edges, instead of text boxes.

But I could still use some kind of pixel drawing tool to create simple icons. With RGB colors to cleanly embed objects in nanDeck. Any suggestions? Iā€™m considering Sprite Something although itā€™s designed for animation and Iā€™m not planning on any animation.

Anyone wanna read it? How do I share a Word (.docx) document here?

Suggestion: upload it to Google docs. Then you can share a link.

So Iā€™m not as familiar with using Google for things other than searching the WWW. But hey, open it in a new tab or cut and paste itā€¦

(I should add that even though I couldnā€™t wait to get the lights up, mostly because itā€™s warmer now, I wonā€™t actually turn on the Christmas decorations until after Thanksgiving.)

I am doing a new game on the Battle of Seattle, and have o re-draw all the art due to file format incompatibilities. Iā€™ve already drawn some, [P.S. using Pixen instead of Sprite Something], and expect to use a lot of iconic images instead of pictures:

Black cross for medics, crossed pipe and bike lock for lockdowns, crossed bat and grenade launcher for police hard platoons, gray whales for inflatable gray whales, etc. But Iā€™m at a loss for iconic icons for:

  • Peopleā€™s delegations who arrived for a traditional negotiated-arrest protest,

  • Street theater, and

  • Unorganized protesters.

Any suggestions? Iā€™d sketched out a banner based on photos of 2 banners for the delegations, and drawings of a radical cheerleader and a student in a sea-turtle costume, but they were a lot of work and they donā€™t fit with the other pieces.

Canonical comedy/tragedy masks. Also instruments.

Is this the right thread?

These are currently rising.

The bottom one has walnuts, butter and spices rolled up inside, and the little one has butter, brown sugar and cinnamon.

Iā€™ll update when theyā€™re ready.

When should we arrive?

This is my second time making the walnut one, but I did it with my mom last time so itā€™s my first solo with both.

my new speaker is great but the buttons are hard to see and impossible to see most of the time since I listen to it on its back.
so I made a small project on my day off.

Hi,

Iā€™m still trying to find protest size data, for my Seattle game.

Partly for better data on the numbers there, and partly for decent data for the numbers at other protests. Because if there arenā€™t as many protesters, or there are more police, then the victory conditions need to change.

Itā€™s looking like a stochastic power-law distribution. So you canā€™t infer likely sizes from polling data and catchment areas. But itā€™s not a deterministic one, which would require interaction between earlier and later protests in a series. So you canā€™t take a few known values and infer sizes proportional to M/N where M is the largest in the series and N is the rank. Or infer that you donā€™t have the largest yet, but when you do, it will be x-sized.

A lot of the comparative data also seems to be junk, with more than a 6:1 ratio between lowest and highest estimates, and most sources combining some very high estimates for one event and very low estimates for another.

oh, and I dunno if I ever posted this but I modded the MP3 player to hold multiple SD cards. you get the holder off azamon, itā€™s the size of a credit card and has a bunch of slots. 4 in a row fit on the MP3 playerā€™s clip back. just a little gorilla glue.

There was a point in time where I found myself with a fair number of 1GB and smaller SD Cards and an MP3 player that used said SD Cards.

So I went and resized album art, printed it out on sticker papaer and made individual ā€œalbumsā€ for my favorite artists.

a not-flower arrangement I made from sycamore branches that blew off the tree in a storm.

Thatā€™s a quite nice arrangement youā€™ve got there, but I feel like youā€™re burying the lede, so to speak, with respect to that badass panther in the foreground. Is that a planter of some sort?

not sure exactly since I got it second-hand. they are of a maybe 60s or 70s vintage and would occasionally come up at thrift stores.
I have 9volt batteries in mine since the smoke detector is just above.
