But don’t worry, you don’t need your mother

Fa-fa-fa-fa-fa-fa-fa-fa-fa-far better
Knit knit knit knit knit knit away oh oh

Currently in the middle of launching my inglorious media empire!

I mean, if two kids in Macedonia can do it, so can I, right.

For now I’m going live as a single proprietorship, but will fully incorporate in the future (as soon as funds permit). It’s scary. It’s overcrowded. But goshdarnit, I miss Gawker, and if I have to revive its spirit myself, I’m gonna do it.

Please join me in saying a hearty fuck you to Jim ā€œSlayer of Splinter, Destroyer of Deadspinā€ Spanfeller.

i forgot i had registered SquinterMedia and not SquinterNews. it would have been really ballsy but it would have been close enough to a G/O media trademark to have triggered a lawsuit.

come check us out, we don’t bite

Are you planning a general news site, or will you add other types of articles?

so far I’ve got articles queued up dealing with stupid canadian politics, music, and one about the time I nearly died (no, not that time, the other time).

right now we’re in influence-building mode (we have an impressive reach on twitter already). we’re a zero-budget site with a lot of attitude and not much smarts.

if people wanna pitch ideas / send tips / or even pitch articles they want to write, go wild.

on Squinter Media, I’m @austinw

the more voices, the better.

the site has seen around 4000 unique visitors in the first day but few read and zero engagement outside of twitter

We now have our first contributing author joining us and I’m really excited. Also a bit overwhelmed with the incorporation process. Despite not advertising the site at all yesterday we pulled in one hundred curious ransoms visiting.

The thirst for content is real.

I have this idea for a restaurant sign for my train layout:

I had the cup on the right 3-D printed. All I need is to print the sign, build a frame for it, and prop a small diner underneath.

That is an absolutely sick and depraved reference.

I approve thoroughly.

Thank you.
The ā€œFamily Mealsā€ bit was a friend’s idea when I described it last night.
At dinner.

My dad used to discuss the dinner scene from ā€œAlienā€ at the dinner table.

Currently transcribing, as well as editing as I go along. Word count: 1,356 at the present time at six pages (only four lines on the sixth page so far, LOL!).

Here’s the actual 3D printed half-cup I made through Shapeways:

I still need to give it a coating to look like plaster or resin used in an outdoor sign.

Maybe weather it a bit, too?

After all, Donner’s is established, not some fancy newcomer.

Oh yes. Weathering is a must. Most of my buildings look pretty dilapidated. Like this one.

I wound up having a couple of tracks from the album professionally mastered, and used what I learned from the process to step up my own mastering game. Now I’m just waiting on the cover art from my brother the illustrator… :grinning:

Meanwhile since I’m in between projects and haven’t quite decided where to go next, I’ve been experimenting and jamming. I just recorded a very noisy, brief thing inspired by the game I’ve been obsessed with lately:
