Whatchya Workin' On, O Creatives?

Getting this back under way, at least by producing a formal score (it was still in sketch form). Going to have to get stuck in for the other versets.

This looks interesting, but Iā€™m not quite sure what it includes:

Does it provide tools for creating cards? (I currently use nanDeck for counters, Iā€™ve considered Multideck but canā€™t confirm whether it allows users to disable blinking cursors).

Does it provide tools for creating new, compatible images?

Does it work with nanDeck?

Does it let people edit its images?

I think itā€™s mainly .PSD files that you can combine with either each other (e.g. card template + avatar), or with your own artwork, to create cards. And then they have tokens and some pre-created cards that you can supplement your game with. But mostly what they seem to be giving you is the .PSDs

And, being .PSD files, I think they expect you to already be using something like Photoshop or GIMP to manipulate images.

Fuckkkā€¦ I couldnā€™t get Inkscape to run, and half these graphics tools turn out to blind me, which is a pain when Iā€™m trying to work on graphics.

P.S. These are .png files. nanDeck can use .png files, though Iā€™d prefer more realistic onesā€¦

My friend and I sponged a fake brick design on my kitchen divider last Wednesday. Itā€™s just watered down acrylic. If it gets marked up too easily Iā€™ll have to seal it with something.

I spent my three day weekend converting maps for use with Fistful of Frags (solid game, too bad mic use is default). Released three in the past 24 hours, all of which have become wildly successful. Currently working on a Smoking Guns map, only need to spend another five hours on it to get it just right.

New dark ambient/drone/spooky album release

Patch/production notes are here.

ā€¦

Other than a couple of submissions to the next Ambient Online compilation, now Iā€™m recording a bunch of improvisation with the Soma Lyra-8 ā€œOrganismic Synthesizer.ā€ My next release will be the best of those. Here are a couple of things Iā€™ve done with it so far:

Iā€™m not sure why, but I keep expecting a cool female voice to break in with ā€œMothershipā€ while a choral arrangement of Barberā€™s Adagio starts up in the backgroundā€¦

A poem I wrote tonight.

I Live in a Place

I live in a place
Where the dead used to live.
They left their things behind because they
Forgot that ā€œyou canā€™t take it with youā€ and they
Forgot that they had so much.

I am reminded
Of things I never did, places Iā€™ve never been,
Of letters I did not write to people I never knew.
Of songs I never heard, presents I never opened, and
Of textures Iā€™d never touch.

I have no egress
From this place where the dead used to live.
Ties of poverty keep me in this Limbo, and
Ties of memory keep me in this Limbo, and
They are tight in their clutch.

my rabbit friend Lester is staying in my dogā€™s crate until I get his own pen built.
finally making some progress.

the walls are all one piece joined to itself. I pressed all the ends into the two vertical wires so you can run your finger up and down without hooking yourself.
now I need to exchange my Ā¼ā€ hardware cloth for Ā½ā€ so I can line the floor but the poops will still fall thru (estimated circumference wrong at the hardware store.)
waiting on litter box, hay rack, and water bottle in the mail.
also going to build a 2nd floor loft to one side and make an exit door and a ramp so Lester can exit and get down off the desk when he gets liberty time.

Iā€™m repainting furniture. I failed to get a before photo but when I bought it, this cabinet it was a weird dirty looking pale yellow. But the details were so pretty, I was very excited about painting it.

I found this among my things while looking for old paper to shred for cat litter (oh, the money Iā€™m saving, lol). I did it I THINK in 2010 while in class at Macomb Community College. Donā€™t ask what class, I donā€™t remember. Blue ballpoint on manila folder.

I use nanDeck in Wineskin to build counter sheets. I can instruct it where to draw vector graphics, or I can import graphics, and I would like to create some icons to import, and maybe pick up the Humble Bundle of existing icons. I looked at Multideck, but I canā€™t confirm whether it allows users to avoid animation and disable any blinking/flashing.

Does anyone know of a good pixel art editor for the Mac, which allows users to avoid animation and disable any blinking/flashing? i.e. low-resolution raster art.

e.g. does Pixen allow users to disable blinking cursors?

I have NeoOffice for writing. It supports vector art, but the trick which lets me disable blinking cursors when writing doesnā€™t work when drawing. I also have Graphic for vector art, but gave up on it because it only allowed 1 page per file. I donā€™t know if either can be used for low-resolution raster art.

I think I mentioned this in the WTII thread; teasing you with the prologue.
Trey Topaz, Ghost Detective

By Lucy A. Gothro

Prologue

It is the year 2084 ā€“ believe it or not, the Earth still spins on its axis, though a bit irregularly since part of the South Pole was obliterated in a nuclear accident (donā€™t ask!). For the last 20 years, the existence of ghost has been widely accepted by the civilized scientific and medical communities; the uncivilized ones never really questioned it. Not so much by the religious community, the acceptance of ghosts varying from denomination to denomination, as well as by each individual faith and church in some cases. Most of the living havenā€™t really got a problem with it, though some supersensitives do. But since the establishment of coherent and rational communications with the spirits of those who have died for some purpose, no matter how irrational it mayā€™ve been, and who have not achieved their own lifeā€™s purpose, a ā€œDepartment of the Afterlifeā€ or some version thereof has been created in nearly every known federal, state, provincial, county, parish, and municipal government on the planet. New York City has 100 employees, but believe it or not, Detroit leads the U.S. in that regard with 1,000. And yet the place that employs the most DOA personnel is Sweden, with 2,000 employees on their payroll.

Ghosts that are seen by the general public fit the general belief of what a ghost should look like: A glowing, somewhat-translucent person who floats several inches or more off of the ground. They pretty much abide by the common rules of the societies in which they inhabit; well, most of them, at any rate. Ghosts that serve in the law-enforcement and medical fields do so with great success, for the simple reason that theyā€™ve eliminated the need for many technologically-advanced methods in their respective industries being that they can do the same things without cost.

The only reason a ghost can be CAN be seen and CAN serve is so they can achieve their lifeā€™s purpose; not achieving it is why theyā€™re ghosts, aside from the fact that theyā€™re dead.

And that, my Dear Reader, is what leads to the beginning of the story Iā€™m going to tell you.

And I finally took this out of its shrub and touched it up last night, and put it back just a few minutes ago. Iā€™ve another one with a picture of a bat on it that Iā€™ll touch up today. They both used to be on stakes, but theyā€™re pasteboard basically, and the wind and wet broke the stakes.
Hereā€™s the bat (I did some enhancing to it on my phone):

I think this burst of creativity - Iā€™ve also been working on finishing an Xmas-themed hand-latchhooked rug and I painted some small jars that held 3 oz. candles, all this on-&-off yesterday - is due to the strain of cannabis Iā€™ve been smoking. I sure wasnā€™t doing this before I smoked it, LOL!

Does anyone know of sensory-accessible drawing software for the Mac?

I use NeoOffice for writing, but the hacks that work in its writing software donā€™t work in its drawing software. If I select and try to move text objects, the edges flash, for visibility, and I canā€™t see a thing except the flashing pain. I also tried Graphic. Blinking cursors. I used to use OpenOffice/LibreOffice. Blinking cursors and flashing edges.
