Thatâs so weird. I was thinking about this the other day. My parents have a treadmill they donât use because the frame is broken. I was thinking about how to turn it into a giant belt sander!
The other thing I was thinking about was turning a random orbital sander from a hand tool to a bench tool. I often work with small wooden pieces that would be much easier to handle if the sander was in a fixed location and the pieces held against it. This is for finish sanding where a belt sander is too rough.
That looks really scary. I think he should be using leather gloves at least.
Gloves are a no-no near any fast-moving machinery.
Amen. Seeing one âgot sucked into the machineâ type injury is one way too many. Back in residency when I was doing ED rotations, we would get one or two a month. They were gross. Do not do this.
Degloving is not nice either.
Nope. Usually, ironically, donât see that with gloves. That is more common when rings get caught in the equipment. Also very nasty, though.
(Side note: Unless you have a strong stomach or a masochistic streak, donât Google these things. They are nasty.)
Yeah, even some very successful woodworking YouTubers get that wrong. Degloving doesnât actually have anything directly to do with gloves. And, yeah, DO NOT google it!
Holy shit. Glad Iâm not in charge. For sanding strip wood etc for models Iâve considered buying a hand-cranked sander:
I could have use one of those today, working on some wooden d4s. I made 4 in the Honest Dice style:
In walnut with brass dots for the numbers.
And one big one in the flop over style:
Moisturizing cream is probably a safer way to keep your feet feeling soft.
Four d4s in the Honest Dice style made from walnut with brass inlay. I tested these and they were all tight to 2.5 average value, with the smallest being a little bit cool at 2.32 out of 100 rolls.
The tray is new, too. Hemlock base with Douglas fir sides.
I was wondering about the accuracy of the dice youâve posted here. thatâs cool that you test them.
Iâm an engineer. Testing the dice was part of the fun of making them!
I tested the d6s, too. Most are within hairs of 3.5 but there was one that was slightly hot and one that was slightly cold.
Started this about three weeks ago on the weekends. Big 'ol patio.
Im afraid the garden is getting a little neglected
Progress today. Laid 70 blocks for the retaining wall. The missus and daughter were moving gravel. My thighs and forearms are burning!
Got my wife a pretty handcrafted necklace at a local craft fair over the weekend for our 18th anniversary. She had picked it out, so there was no question of liking it. âBut now i need a necklace stand, they get all tangled up in the drawer. I found this on Etsy.â No, i think not.
A couple hours in the shop and voila. Etsy⌠sigh.
You complain but you know you like it
Oh, she knows what she is doing. The thing on Etsy was $8 + s/h, so look at all the money we saved!
No, you are absolutely right. If she or one of the kids says, âHey, can you makeâŚâ I always say yes. It doesnât always end well, but the vast majority of the time. Some from TOP may remember when our youngest asked if i could make a Tardis. My wife threatens me with that to this day.
