Just like mom’s cooking, her welds are perfect.
i appreciate the thought, but there is a solid reason why i do all the cooking!
I’d say your mom is a savvy person and knows how to delegate
was just sent a pic of the first handrail my boss did today solo. you can see how the columns’ decorations restrict the height (except wouldn’t you know there’s a downspout blocking most of it) and you don’t want the pickets to hit the floor because you can never get rid of all the dead leaves
At the risk of stating the obvious, please y’all, if you are working with epoxy resins, please only do so in a very well-ventilated area.
It’s no joke, those chemicals.

Sorry to be a buzzkill.
I know two people who have worked many hours with epoxy (one did epoxy floors in garages as a side gig for a few years) and they both have cancer. I realize this is the very definition of anecdata, which is not to be confused with actual data, and which is why I offer the GoogleScholar links.
Protect your sweet selves. Thank you.
ETA:
No kidding. Ventilation is key. The table i work epoxy on (and i only do small pours, no river tables here!) Is right next to my exhaust fan. The biggest pain for me is keeping the epoxy shavings and dust from working it separate from the wood chips that i feed my mushrooms. It’s probably too late for me to worry about microplastics for myself, but damned if I’m going to knowingly contribute to the problem!
One can get a device to check the air quality for volatile compounds, handy for people that do a lot of resin related work. Though from my checking online it seems that they’re not entirely reliable, but should be a good device to have on hand in support of having good ventilation. And of course good quality respirators go without saying.
They were dinosaurs once:
The Papiermeister has been back at work on the presses, and the USPS has expeditiously delivered the goods. @KeybillyJefe, there is some magic at work here because your postcards seem to always arrive exactly when I need most need something good to happen. Thank you!
it makes me so happy to know that my little pictures bring some pleasure to folks that receive them.
i was very happy with this particular image. i try to capture the attitude of these beasties, and i felt like this one sassed me right back!
this is the promised Bonus Card, where i printed an entire press run on the heavier post card paper, rather than the bookplate paper. this chicken will still be part of the next book, Street Chickens Volume II: more islands, more chickens, more stories.
stay tuned, there is more to come. i am super excited by the work so far. so many stories to tell, and the cast of characters just keeps renewing regenerating like some Conch version of Doctor Who, I’ve lost count of the Henrys, Georges, Kevins and Colonels.
now what would Papiermeister need a split fountain for?
printing two colors at once, of course!
top secret stuff goin down in the printshop.
Got mine, too! Love it, as always!
So i’ve been pondering something for a while now. My office has a couch in the corner, its comfy to lay down on and i like to read while laying down on it. I have a blanket that i keep on it and my cat often tries to be under it but quickly decides its not comfortable and leaves, we do this dance every now and then where he tries to figure out if he can be under the blanket and decides to leave.
I’ve somewhat landed on maybe setting up a jerry rigged tent/canopy situation, and ideally i would like to use a somewhat see through or sheer fabric so i can see through it and also allow for some level of airflow. To hold it up i could put two or three hooks on the wall behind the couch, said hooks would marry up to some kind of hole or grommet on the fabric. What i’m anticipating is the fabric sagging a lot in the middle and the front, i had been thinking of different solutions like using wooden dowels but i really want to see if i can keep the overall construction really simple.
I’m a visual person so here’s a lazy man’s mockup
One thought is to maybe set the hook closest to the corner much higher up. The main intention currently is for it to be dummy simple and meant to be taken down or put up easily. Thoughts?
PS: I have ambitious or crazy ideas for projects all the time so i feel like i need to screen this one before i go too deep into things
PPS: Extra lazy addendum showing how i think it might work with the hook on the corner being higher
So basically mosquito netting?
My daughter had a “fairy palace setup over her bed when she was little. Hung it from the ceiling, had a round wire frame and draped down to the floor from there. Mesh was like a tent with a split diwn the middle to enter and curtain ties to keep it open when she wasn’t sleeping.
That design could work. I’d worry if it was suspended from the wall it would droop too much.
Pretty much, i need to see what kind of sheer fabrics i can find that i like that could work.
Maybe i could add one more hook high up on the left side to help elevate a bit more of the fabric
And yes i ran this preliminary idea by my partner. She described it as quite extra, but she’s ok with me trying it out if i want to lol
Oh, don’t get me wrong. There were definitely times I looked at my daughter’s set up and thought “oh, this is badass. I could totally rock this kind of thing. Subtract the flowers and shit, but this is really cool as hell.”
The way I described it to her was that as a kid I often would set up a little tent on top of my bed, or sometimes I’d set it in the living room to watch TV from and it just made the time I spent chilling by myself a whole lot cozier. And it’s something I’d be keen to emulate with what I’ve sketched out
Don’t think “mosquito net” - think “air hall”.
You absolutely did! We probably received ours a few days ago but we are terrible about checking the mail
@Grey_Devil
From experience with many a sheet-covered pillow fort: a cat is likely to plomp right on top of the contraption. Keep that in mind when deciding on construction
ETA: or the cat will chew on the translucent fabric. Two of ours are obsessed with organza and netting
I’m expecting the cats stomping on it but I’m hoping to set it up without much tension so it should give way
