I think the way that people conquered back then was not about peacefully spreading diversity, but more about rape and pillaging. The sad part is that we havenât really changed all that much since what that depicts.

A police report says his car was stopped for failing to display tags but a temporary dealer plate is visible.
During the incident, the soldier, who was handcuffed while his car was searched, asked why force was being used against him and was told by a police officer: âBecause youâre not co-operating.â He was later released without charge.

Law enforcement officers have discovered this law and legislatorsâ seeming unwillingness to exempt public employees from these protections. And, since officers are often able to claim every violent act theyâve engaged in was predicated by a criminal act by the suspect theyâve deployed force against, theyâre able to claim they were âvictimsâ of crimes, even if the crime was nothing more than the grab bag of charges commonly known as âcontempt of cop.â

Zachary Wester, whose career in law enforcement came crashing down in 2018 after the allegations came to light, was indicted last year on a total of 52 counts, including charges of racketeering, official misconduct, perjury, fabricating evidence, false imprisonment and possession of drugs. The charges stemmed from Westerâs arrests of 11 different people.
Last month, prosecutors filed an amended information charging Wester with two dozen additional counts involving five more of his alleged victims. The charges stemmed from traffic stops in 2017 and 2018 in which drivers or passengers were arrested on drug charges including possession of methamphetamine and marijuana.
In another of the new cases, Wester stopped a woman with two kids in the car because one of her brake lights was broken, according to arrest reports. After a search of the vehicle, Wester claimed several baggies with suspected meth were found on the front console under her wallet. She denied it was hers. But Wester arrested her for felony possession and â because kids were present â child endangerment.

From a few weeks ago when he was found guilty:
Attorney Robert Tuten says the jury was not only wrong, but this decision will set a precedent for future cases if not overturned.
âIt will affect every law enforcement agency in the state and how they protect their citizens, how they respond to calls with people with guns. How they respond to suicide threats,â Tuten explained.
He says that like responding to a suicide threat in any other way than killing the person outright would be a bad thing.
