You can call me AI

Hate to say they got what they deserved, but that’s an especially stupid usage of ChatGPT.

Why does a grown adult trust anything but the official website of the government of Chile? This isn’t even an AI issue. Would you trust visa advice from a third-party? Any non-official source?

It’s even stupider by the way:

ChatGPT got me.
I asked it if I could sue it but it said No.

Learned helplessness. It’s a thing.

Exactly. The Russian proverb is, “Trust, but verify.” When it comes to information online from non-official sources my first thought is, “Don’t trust, verify.” :woman_shrugging:t5:

You know that generative AI browser assistant extension is probably beaming everything to the cloud, right?

Generative AI assistants packaged up as browser extensions harvest personal data with minimal safeguards, researchers warn.

Some of these extensions may violate their own privacy commitments and potentially run afoul of US regulations, such as HIPAA and FERPA, by collecting and funneling away health and student data.

In MLA style this would get a proper citation.

This latest image generator still has plenty of problems, but it’s also probably “good enough” to put even more graphic artists out of work when businesses have a choice between basically free (but stolen) art, logos, etc vs. paying someone to do it.

(Some of the examples in there article where it rendered popular internet memes drawn in Studio Ghibli style were amusing but the implications of profiting from stolen art like that pissed me off)

The biggest difference I see between this and earlier image generators is that it allows for iteration. You can now prompt the thing to make minor changes to an image that it just created for you while keeping most of the image the same.

Wow, that ChatGPT “Ghiblification” trend really took off in the last 24 hours.

And yes, it’s definitely an insult to the real artists whose work was stolen to power this machine.

Sam Altman is such an asshole. He just “Ghiblified” his own profile photo even knowing how Miyazaki feels about it.

Just another billionaire mediocrity that lucked in to inherited wealth who has been elevated to an 11th dimensional chess player. Anyone who remembers his DoJ deposition (Cory has brought it up numerous times recently which is why it was on my mind) will recall what petulant children who are way out of their depth these sociopaths are.

A follow up report published on March twenty sixth shed more light on the situation and revealed that Microsoft has actually pulled over two gigawatts of capacity across the US and Europe. That’s the equivalent capacity of London and Tokyo combined.

Yeah he just ranted that Into my ear canal.
