Just to add an example to that, I haven’t been to the doc in awhile, requested an appointment and got the response that there’s a two-month waiting list. I also need to see a different doc/specialist (have to look up the info to make an appointment), but the last time I made an appointment there it got moved an entire year and eventually canceled.
Isn’t this exactly what they warned us would be the result of socialized medicine?
Meanwhile the people with socialized medicine are laughing at us.
Or they can work in other insurance industries that are growing (house, flood, fire, etc), or they can transition to working in the public system instead. Or they can continue to work in the private industry that will continue to exist alongside the public one.
Either way, at the very least, people who are NOT doctors need to stop deciding at a distance what care I need and denying claims for that care because they believe it to be unnecessary, for what the fuck ever reasons - saving money, I guess, because it’s better for me to continue to suffer with endless head aches and continuing to build up antibiotic immunity, so they don’t have to pay out for a claim, even though we’ve paid them tens of thousands dollars over the years.
And we’re lucky that we can try and deal with this, and can probably even pay it if push comes to shove. What about the millions of Americans who are routinely denied care that are living pay check to pay check?
This system is built around making insurance execs richer, not ensuring we all get better health care. I don’t understand why my health and well being should be sacrificed so that the insurance cos can save a couple of bucks…
