No, but there were some people who while already on the right, ended up in a closed right wing eco-system that fed them a steady stream of right wing talking points, in many cases outright lies, to get them to keep clicking. Some came to that via facebook, which they signed up to back in the day to look at their grandkid’s across the country… And then came the enshittification and the right wing took over the algorithm and drove this group increasingly biased, even unhinged coverage that didn’t comport with reality… the vast majority of us did not grow up with social media and did not have a good background in media literacy, because it wasn’t necessary in the same way it is now.
