Our polling place was pretty quiet, short line, less than 5 minutes. Very short ballot, Pres/VP, Senator and House. From the comments getting tossed around, I’m guessing mostly Dems, at least while i was there. Guy outside asked if i wanted a sample ballot. Sure, says I. It’s Republican, says he. That’s ok, it’ll tell me who to vote against. Thanks! Got in line chuckling. Nervous as a long-tailed cat in a room full of rocking chairs now, though. Not expecting a call tonight, though.

The Australian Broadcasting Corp (ABC) coverage had this to say.

FYI, a “gallah” is a local species of parrot; they have a reputation for being loud but not super-bright.

That same ABC has told Australians to not expect any news of consequence before 3 PM Australian East Coast time, and concrete results will be at least a few hours after that. 3 PM in Sydney is 8 PM in California.

I was flipping around.

Fox News election coverage is sponsored by a prayer app.

Suprise… Hallow was founded by Alex Jones

I really wish no results were given until ALL polls have closed and all votes cast.

I voted early. I tried last Wednesday and had some issue with my registration (first time voting in Florida), so I had to take my Social Security card in the next day. But the election officials were very kind and professional; I don’t think there was anything fishy about it. They just seemed careful and thorough.
I’m glad I voted early; I feel calmer knowing I got it done. I know it won’t mean that much as it is crazy red here.

This is some of the crap from our local Facebook group. The part where they seem proud that their guy is a convicted felon is just bizarre to me.

and polls in Hawaii are 5 hours behind Washington DC. i would like to see ALL votes have been counted, not just the votes from states that make the EC count over 270. count 'em all, then sort it out.

Compelling, well-thought-out remarks; it’s rare to see such intellectual prowess on display these days.

I was trying to remember this quote from the rally we were at last night. I found it in an article about the night.

I hope she wins tonight.

“You are sitting here in the rain the night before the election, on a Monday night, because you love your country and you want it to be better. We love our country, so wear your patriotism on your sleeve. Carry the flag, wear it proudly, and don’t give an inch to the pretenders on the other side who wrap themselves in the damn flag and then spit on the values that it represents.” -Rep. Elissa Slotkin

I can remember a church serving as a polling place in TX. I’ve lived several places where the schools serve as polling places, hence the closures today (at least, where I live now). I rarely vote on actual Election Day, but when I did, it was in the lobby of a hi-rise apartment bldg. (perhaps since so many of the precinct’s voters live in the complex).

I think it was mentioned at TOS how, in California, a person’s home might serve as a polling place. I remember going with my mom to someone’s house, where she voted (for Carter). There was a Modern Family episode where voting-at-someone’s-house was part of the premise.

way too early to start that shit, man.
i just tuned out David Muir because they are showing tRump up in all these states where only 7 - 13% of votes are even in!
this is what i hate about election night coverage and “let’s go to John at the ‘Big Board’ to see where we stand at the close of only a few polling stations”.
yes. we are all on pins and needles here.
this wall-to-wall media is too much for this old man and his (even older) mum. we’ll check you layer. i can’t do this all night.
