Maybe, but people doing that at the county level are employees, not just volunteers? There was talk about the board in GA and in some counties having MAGA people on them, but the boards are elected bodies that can only certify the election. There are paid employees doing the work. I know there was talk about Trumpers getting these jobs, but most of these jobs are likely held by people committed to doing the work… I grant you that it’s possible, but I’m guessing it’s not enough people in larger blue counties to change a democratic district to a republican one.
Here, at least, all the counties that vote blue solidly went blue. Fulton and Dekalb were over 70 or 80% for Harris… my county was nearly 60% for Harris… I don’t think there were any unexpected places that had a history of voting blue that went for Trump (including in other cities around the state and across the Black belt)… She underperformed in some areas, for sure, but there could be a number of reasons for that.
Hell, someone could even suggest it to them! Or any other organization that is known for investigative journalism.
That’s far enough, but they know the number of mail votes (which have yet to be counted or are uncured) and the number of total voters in the district, precinct, county, state, etc, so when they call a specific place for which ever candidate, I think that they are saying that the uncounted/uncured ballots would not be enough to swing an election… I may be wrong about that.
Is he at Pro-publica? Or does he write at another place…
No, but there were some people who while already on the right, ended up in a closed right wing eco-system that fed them a steady stream of right wing talking points, in many cases outright lies, to get them to keep clicking. Some came to that via facebook, which they signed up to back in the day to look at their grandkid’s across the country… And then came the enshittification and the right wing took over the algorithm and drove this group increasingly biased, even unhinged coverage that didn’t comport with reality… the vast majority of us did not grow up with social media and did not have a good background in media literacy, because it wasn’t necessary in the same way it is now.
0.4%, for those playing along. Compared to 8% of that half of half of 13%, which is 0.25%.
In case anyone needs reminding: even if you know absolutely nothing about the topic, when people talk about the “fastest growing” group, it’s really safe to assume you can swap the words “fastest growing” with “smallest and least significant”.
Those answers are definitely interesting, but I’m not sure how helpful they are. If the feedback you get is basically “I voted for you and then also Trump because I am truly, astoundingly stupid and have apparently been sleepwalking through the past eight years”, how exactly do you apply that knowledge?
I don’t think it’s actually news, but stupid and ignorant isn’t some congenital problem that people are stuck with. It speaks to a crisis of poor education and misinformation that needs to be chipped away at.
A portion of donations made to the Harris Victory Fund, a joint fundraising committee authorized by the Harris campaign, the Democratic National Committee and state Democratic parties, will be directed towards a recount effort, according to its fundraising page. It doesn’t include additional details on when the recount effort will take place and who will lead the effort. Harris officially conceded the race to Trump in a speech she gave at Howard University the day after Election Day, saying that the nation must accept the election results.
Ugh yeah, cruelty being the point even more explicitly when it comes to choosing a Homeland Security secretary. He’s not only looking for someone who will carry out the planned wave of deportations faithfully, but who will enjoy and add onto the punishment aspect.
