He is (either accidentally or on purpose) following the standard excuse playbook:
Victim under age of consent: “I thought she was [age of consent]” (and therefore could have given legal consent)
Victim at or over age of consent: “It was consensual”

It’s the only time sports like swimming, diving, speed skating, luge, bobsledding, figure skating, ski jumping, slalom racing, and gymnastics get proper prime-time coverage.
For that alone, hell yes.
And the modern Olympics are supposed to encourage greater harmony between nations. Granted that’s been getting thinner since the Moscow boycott of 1980, not to mention the doping scandals, but this Olympics the two Koreas are competing together, which is a massive diplomatic win.

It’s also supposed to be the highest achievement for amateur athletes.
Lately there have been a lot of professional athletes competing (especially in sports like basketball) so the lines have been blurred.
If it became an amateurs-only event again, I would be way more interested than I am. But I’m already interested, because it gives the lesser-known sports their due. For example, I followed Shooting during the last Olympics, and learned something about a sport I wouldn’t otherwise know anything about. I wouldn’t ordinarily follow these sports, but I do find them interesting.

Hockey should be interesting this year.
There will still be professionals competing, but no NHL players.
It seems like it would be really hard to assemble a full team of amateur athletes for a sport requiring more people per team than, say, curling (four + spare + coach).

that’s in addition to the 40-175 years sentence he received in Ingham County Circuit Court. I think this is his final sentencing hearing-- unless other jurisdictions want to press charges.
“The Eaton County sentence will be served concurrently with the Ingham County sentence but after the child pornography sentence, the judge said.”
