Ahem…after the lawyers take their cut.
Professional asshat and perpetual embarrassment to Canada, Dr Jordan B Peterson, recently called for assigned enforced marriage. But apparently socialized health care is a bridge to far, and pronouns lead to gulags?
Would a whale and flowerpot please land on this asshole?
(Jordan B Peterson has been reported for sexual misconduct thrice while a professor st one of Canada’s top universities.)
He’s definitely versed in the psychology of rabid and incompetant cruelty.
Wherever he goes, he speaks in sermons about the inevitability of who we must be. “You know you can say, ‘Well isn’t it unfortunate that chaos is represented by the feminine’ — well, it might be unfortunate, but it doesn’t matter because that is how it’s represented. It’s been represented like that forever. And there are reasons for it. You can’t change it. It’s not possible. This is underneath everything."
Translation: “I am too intellectually lazy and self-indulgent to consider the possibility that things aren’t the way they’ve always been and/or the way I want them to be.”
Christ, what an asshole.
(Besides, from what I’ve read, the Goddess of Chaos is pretty cool. )
This is someone who has never considered the chaos in one’s own home and family life and how it’s the wife or mother who is expected to create calm order out of that chaos.
Aw, come on, he’s just being logical… inside this hermetically sealed box of unexamined assumptions he’s created, which exists free from the crushing constraints of reality.
Fuuuuuuuuuck that guy. Not literally.
Thread.
JFC. This is why women don’t stay in academia. I seriously doubt that men could “hack it” under similar conditions (nor should they. No one should.)
Goddamn. I read the entire Twitter thread (and I don’t even have a Twitter account), and I ended up sharing the anger.
As many worthwhile ‘gems’ that can be found there, the comments section of pretty much any public platform is an energy leech’s wet dream: they get to spread all their negativity and malaise with minimal effort.
In this case, that’s not the issue. She’s just documenting her own horror and how ingrained in policy protection for these bastards has become. It just happens to be a very long, horrifying story.
Into the valley of death etc.
Lest anyone mistakenly think that Concordia is an outlier and that the problems aren’t endemic to academia
Yup, and there was a set roster of “do not approach” types when I was at Western too. I changed an essay topic once because my prof recommended I talk to the faculty expert on that particular author – someone I had been warned away from by multiple people.
Meanwhile, it was claimed on campus women weren’t into his specialty because, you know, none of them ever asked him to be their thesis advisor.
In the tweet thread, I love how the eyewitness essay was dismissed as hearsay, but the man’s essay that really was hearsay was taken seriously.
I also love how apparently the university needs lots and lots and lots of women attacked and traumatised by these assholes before they can get rid of them. Like one woman’s life and career being fucked up isn’t enough. Compare to drunk driving penalties.
Ugh…
God dammit.
I was already giving him side eye for dating a step-granddaughter (or some such relative) who was 30 years his junior a few years back.
I feel like the list of men of his generation, who have NOT harassed anyone, is short.
It’s really starting to look that way.
I swear, if something fucked up comes out about Mr. Rogers, I may just lose my shit.
No worries about that, fortunately! I know personal friends of his. What you saw was 100% authentic.
This was a good read:
