we speak in hyphenated phrases all the time, yet there is some sort of educational breakdown in teaching people that these common, everyday phrases are indeed written as hyphenated.
itās not particularly difficult, but itās glossed over compared to commas and apostrophes and full-stops/periods. same deal with semicolons, but semicolon usage is way harder to recognize than hyphens, IMO.
