It’s the eyes that the are problems as they are yet more plastic pollution. the paper backing and whatever the adhesive is probably less of an issue.

Oh, i get that - but the city was citing the glue, because it’s somehow damaging the bronze. If the people are using Super Glue or something similar, i get it. As for the plastics in the eyes, don’t they make plastic to-go containers now out of corn or cellulose? there must be a way to use those kinds of things to make biodegradable eyes. come on, science – our propensity for humor via altering public art needs you!

Sure, doesn’t mean they make googly eyes out of that stuff yet, though. They COULD, but they have not, as far as I know.

I could def see googly eyes made with a cotton white string with a black cotton knot at the end of it, attached to a circular cardboard piece with some biodegradable adhesive. Alternatively they could do one that visually looks exactly like existing ones just using biodegradable plastics, the problem is that often the stuff it breaks down into isn’t good for the environment hence the first one i thought of.

Maybe i’m overcomplicating things :stuck_out_tongue: :man_shrugging:

Bureaucrats have very little sense of humour; there was a Toronto mayor who got bent out of shape about the name of the local band Barenaked Ladies, and refused to let them perform in the New Year’s Eve show outside city hall.
