Hollywood Police say they don’t know if the teenager who got stuck in an abandoned bank vault will be facing any charges. “We’re just happy he learned something today and everyone came out safe.”

But if so, yay for some slight awareness that skin tone doesn’t determine which teens are being stupid teens and which ones have to be killed or locked away with adults.

Or… it really is by skin tone – east Asians being as pale as white people, really (definitely a lot paler than the Eastern European side of my family).

Also, just to be clear, the teen got stuck in an abandoned vault while exploring it. This was not an attempted robbery. If there was a crime, it wasn’t anything worse than trespassing.

We’ve sort of been trained to take the door off an abandoned refrigerator. I guess the idea of taking the door off of an abandoned bank vault is just too abhorrent to bank people.

I did a bulk order of backpacks that were supposed to be picked up tonight.
More than half weren’t.
So I am now raising the price that must be paid upon pick-up: the previously agreed-upon price plus one cookie.

I don’t know if they can. A friend of mine used to live in a bank that had been converted to apartments (he had a bachelor made from an old manager’s office – built-in mid-60s office shelving, very cool). He showed us the vault in the building’s basement. Even if they had taken the door off its hinges – no small feat in the remaining space – they wouldn’t have been able to remove it from the building without smashing through several doorways and probably the floor above.
They must have installed those things whole and then built the rest if the building around them.
