And one minute after typing this, I go to the other place and read:
I’ve written about the 11foot8 bridge (aka the Can-Opener) quite a few times here on Boing Boing. Located in Durham, North Carolina, it’s a 79-year-old railroad bridge that has a lower clearance than the height of many common commercial trucks. It’s scraped the top off of 139 trucks since 2008, the year that Jürgen Henn installed a video camera to record the crashes.
Now if that ain’t weird I dunno what is!
(actually I assumed it was Google or something do its ad thing)
You know… wrap the can up in green paper first, do something about the white twine, video it against a matching green screen, and you’d have a great, reusable clip that could save you a lot of money on CGI. You could film it simultaneously from different angles too.
Well, you see, some people like watching videos of people being sprayed by Super Soakers.
But the problem with Super Soakers is that they can only hold so much water in their tanks. And, even if there’s enough water in the tank to satisfy the people who would want to watch someone get soaked, there’s a limit to how much pressure it’ll come out with, no matter how much you pump it up first.
So, I think that the suggestion is to use the footage of the spray can to show someone getting soaked with enough water, with enough pressure, to satisfy the kind of people who would watch those kinds of Super Soaker videos.
Or, that’s how I would explain it to a 5-year-old.
