Tales of Cities

Yeah, but the part of the city where this is is Democratic and Black majority (thought just barely now), and they don’t want Democrats or Black people to have nice things.

Kansas City has also been rebuilding its streetcar system, but I think it’s mostly in a touristy area. A lot of it was developed while I was in New Jersey, so I’m admittedly not up to speed. I should investigate.

“These are going to be cities without workers’ rights."

Pish-posh! Why, without PitA regulations, that means no more Taft-Hartley Act to impede the labor movement, right?

Seriously, the ultimate outcome of this is something like Dubai, if not an Arbeitslager.

If/when these ventures go manboobs-up, if The Felon’s still in charge, I can see it going either way: he’ll bail them out from our wallets, or he’ll say that he’ll help them & not do it (perhaps lifting our wallets anyway). :face_with_symbols_over_mouth:

They have completely changed that building over the past two years. It used to be a dark brick exterior with unusually-spaced narrow windows. Basically, they kept the steel frame and changed everything else.

I went on a job interview there in 2016 for Chase bank. Did not get the job, but they were nice.

Coincidentally, I work a street or two away from there now.

Here is an idea of how it used to look. Frankly, I think it looked better. They also added a cube to the top of it.

Here is a little something about congestion pricing.

I shot this video today, Friday, at 5:30 pm here.

On a “normal” Friday at 5:30, before congestion pricing, this intersection was a literal gridlock of cars and busses. Traffic comes north on State Street, south on Broadway, and they both try to get on Battery Place. This is one of the standard routes into the Brooklyn-Battery Tunnel. And then more traffic would continue south on State Street eventually getting on the Brooklyn Bridge. It was a mess.

Look at it now. This is what Republicans are fighting against.

Edited to correct some spelling.

Makes sense. Since I honestly can’t think of a single good thing that theyre fighting for.

Here is another Congestion Pricing video, shot here.

This was taken today, a Sunday, at 3:20 pm. Sure, it’s a Sunday, but still it feels like the traffic is 1/3 less than usual.

I spotted this a couple of weeks ago, but now got a picture of it.

The last sign reads “Shame NYU Langone.”

Network cameras lined-up across from the NYSE waiting for something to happen.

There were four crews. I didn’t see who the first two were. The last two were Al Jazeera and Univision.
