I’m reading through the summaries that @socialistdogmom has posted.

It’s heartbreaking. And rage-inducing.

This explains a lot.

The Larouchebags have called every president during my lifetime Hitler, spawn of Satan, etc, but they seem to actually like Trump. Like, a lot.

what a surprise!!

I thought he had died years ago.

that’s due to him being what they actually want for this country.

He’s 96 years old and in very poor health.

Besides, the thing about cults is that they keep going after their leader dies.

That is amazing. I thought for sure Texas was a lost cause, but maybe not.

I think there’s a lot of hope for Texas. Texas isn’t nearly as much of a red state as people think it is. It has been blue before, it can go blue again, and once it does it might never go back to red for a long time.

here’s hoping, but I’m not holding my breath.

The real problem is the stranglehold the state legislature has via gerrymandering. It’ll be interesting to see what happens in the next five to ten years. People always cite demographics, meaning immigration and Hispanic birth rate. But I think what might tip Texas is boomer Democrats retiring out of Dallas, Austin, Houston, El Paso, etc, into more outlying areas and voting there. Once those state seats are bluer, the gerrymander can be broken. Texas has always been beholden to the Nothing that surrounds the cities.

At which point Ted Cruz will be sucked up into a cosmic butthole, never to be seen again, yes.

Wouldn’t that be somewhat recursive?

Lest we forget…young people who have grown up on internet, and are more socially in tune, who might be inclined to vote more blue despite “family tradition”.

Yep. It won’t happen overnight, but it is slowly happening.

Of course, once the problem of gerrymandering is solved, the Republicans will be relegated to the trash heap of history, so they will do everything they can to make it worse, not better.
