The Pets Thread

:joy: I’m so happy she found a forever home!

The pets thread is closed over on BB. I’ll post the updated here.

The Buck has malocclusion of the molars. The vet said to give him an anti-inflammatory medicine, fatten him up with a slurry and restrict him to an all hay diet until he starts eating and pooping normal again, then cut seriously back on his kibble. The hay diet should start wearing down his teeth to normal naturally. If not, I’ll have to take him to a vet that specializes in exotic dentistry to file down the burrs on his teeth.

Fingers crossed! :crossed_fingers:

A very good example of why properly cared for pets live much longer than they would in the wild: you know what to do to make it better, so bun-bun will be better soon instead of wasting away.

Update:

I got about 12 ml of the slurry into him today. He is much more energetic and urinating more (it’s 50% water — it’s essentially a bunny energy shake made of Timothy hay powder).

It’s hard to force-feed a rabbit. Really hard. He now hates me with the fury of 1000 buns… after the last feeding, he hopped into the middle of the room, looked straight at me and thumped. And thumped. And… you get the idea. He. Was. Mad! (Yes, hopping mad! And it was soooooooo cute, too!)

He’s now in “lockdown” in the litter box room, along with a bowl of slurry and a ton of fresh hay. Hoping to see a bunch of more normal looking droppings in the morning.

Well, not pets as such.

Termites are cockroaches, not ants? Whoa, and also wow.

We also have this one for non-pet animals

I showed the original picture to my wife and she said, “Oh, she’s beautiful!”

We’ve had three calicos over the years. We lost the last one a year ago; she was almost 21. But a month later we adopted two litter mates, both male. They really get along well.

I managed to get 40ml of slurry into the Buck today. He was not at all happy, but I am very happy that he is urinating more and his droppings are getting closer to normal sized. He is far more energetic. I’m spending a lot of time forehead to forehead apologizing to him.

He also doesn’t trust me now:

He’s resting, but his hind leg indicated he’s ready to bolt (under a bed) at a moment’s notice. His ear is trained right at me — no way I’m sneaking up on him. I also love that he’s flashing danger tail at me.

I know buddy, I’m a bad hairless ape!

Action shot: Allspice at the vet today. He does like getting on counters.

Does it at home too.

We have two more cats. A red one and a tuxedo cat. I wish they could live in peace, but we are in a kind of cold war here.

Whenever we do a large Lego build, we put everything in a storage tote. Bags, instruction, stickers. The lid is used each building session to hold the pieces from bags currently in use. This is actually a “mini brick” panda cafe in progress* and Nimbus wanted to be apart of things. He isn’t permitted near the open pieces, has a habit of attempting to play with them.

*The instructions can be so frustrating! There is a reason Legos are the GOAT. But Kitty had to have the panda boba tea cafe set. :face_exhaling:
