The Pets Thread

I also see some art there in the background  is that your art??

Yes, those are just some doodles. I started teaching myself watercolours and lino printing a few years ago, and joined the local bookbinder’s guild about 20 years ago. What with work and everything, I rarely had time to do a deep dive into anything, but I retired about a year and a half ago, and hope to dig in a bit more.

I will! This is a lovely new, but also familiar community to explore!

I had a poke around and couldn’t find the arts & crafts thread; what’s the official name?

Thread names seem to differ from what we were used to at the old place, I have noticed.
Unfortunately, I seem to be part of the problem.

We had 6 cats once upon a time. Four we got on purpose and two we adopted from sick friends. Lots of work but loads of fun.

No dogs though.

Pretty much all of my cats have just wandered past the house at some point, and were never claimed. One was an abandoned pregnant teenager, and I kept her and one of her kittens. The dogs have almost all been adopted from rescue organisations, and the previous and current ones were and are absolute treasures.

The difference between dogs and cats; dogs treat you like god, and cats treat you like furniture. Or put another way; a cat is the centre of its universe and you orbit around it, while you are the centre of a dog’s universe.

Or to put the difference slightly…differently, I always feel like dogs adore you and that’s that, while cats decide every day whether they like you. Either way, the affection is a gift, but in different ways.
Speaking of gifts, the big black kitty I posted above has turned into a real cuddle-bug. We picked them both up on Wednesday and after a day of hiding out, he now loves sitting with me at the computer, on the couch, in bed, it’s wonderful. His lady friend is a little shyer, but she isn’t hiding anymore.

I think they both love us passionately, in their own ways.

A lot of people who’ve never lived with cats don’t realise how cuddly they are, like your cuddlebugs. My guy is currently anchoring my left arm down as I type.

It’s happening next Monday - Bigwig’s gonna get neutered!

and the same angel that’s helped out out in the past is helping us again.

Cirrus loves the stems from baby spinach

Is it just the perspective or does Cirrus have huge ears?

I’m guessing she insists you remove the leafy bit

Edit to add: Cirrus could really be Nimbus’s sister if they weren’t born hundreds of miles apart

She hasn’t quite grown into them. Maybe she won’t?
She’s pretty dainty, approaching 7 lbs. Nimbus is a big boy, right?
