Xray says the bottom part of his colon near the exit is clean but the upper part not so much. They don’t see any blockage so it’s kitty exlax for a couple days and if that don’t work he goes back for kitty enema.
Slight chance there’s some arthritis but we’ll address that after we see if a clean out solves the problem.
Not to be alarming, but have they ruled out kitty IBD? We had two with that, but their main symptom was (extremely smelly) diarrhea, rather than slow emptying.
Hoping for a speedy & complete recovery. He so cute!
I had a very fine cat who was prone to blockages, usually resolved with kitty exlax, but the first time he had to get the enema treatment he was in a state of confused horror when it kicked in: “what-the-hell-is-happening-I-can’t-stop-make-it-stop-HALP!”
He’s happy back home, we was just cuddling with my wife.
He started out for 2 years as a feral, now at 6 he’s a lap kitty.
His 9 year old mom was just brought in side. She’s still in her own room with no contact with the other kitties but she plays and cuddles with my wife. She let’s me pet her occasionally but she also still hisses at me.
This is her room, she got the fancy tree for Christmas but so far she hasn’t tried it out.
We had that happen with one of ours many years ago. Our vet suggested it while we were in the office and said they could do it that afternoon, so we left our darling Lorenzo with them for an hour or two. The look on his face was very clear: “Do you know what they did to me?!?” It did work, though, and he was feeling better by the next day.
Little by little, our red cat is getting better. We changed his food and medication, but We still don’t know exactly what happened to him. His blood tests came back normal, with no infections or changes in the parameters. His digestive system, although a little inflamed, was nothing to worry about according to the vet. Next week we’ll take him to the clinic and see what the vet has to say.
When Boone is having what I think is a nightmare (he had a tough beginning), I say very softly; “Goood boy”. And he usually settles down and sleeps more peacefully.
I remember a story from a few years ago (maybe this belongs in the “Wild Animals that Live Among Us” thread, but it applies here too), about a completely wild crow, not habituated to humans(as far as the humans knew) came to them to ask for help to remove porcupine quills.
I’ve “heard” animals’ thoughts several times, and it was often obvious they’d also “heard” mine.
I was grooming the Arabian school horse I adored when an intrusive image entered my head. I saw myself brushing him, then his grabbing my tight, stretchy breeches leg in his teeth, w/o my even feeling it, and pulling at it. I laughed at the image, then realized my leg was moving w/o my moving it.
I looked down, and the cute little fucker had my breeches leg in his teeth and was pulling it. He was pulling my leg! I hadn’t evem felt his warm breath, let alone his lips or teeth!
I kinda jumped a little, and he let go & backed off, afraid I was angry. I immediately petted and soothed and told him, “Awww, it’s okay! It’s okay! I’m not mad! I was just surprised, even though you told me you were doing it!” and gave him a hug.
He was so smart, and so weird, and so round, and so very handsome.
His pedigree was astonishing, with many rare and exceptional bloodlines, and it could be traced all the way back to Arabia Deserta in the 1800s.
I’ve found Nimbus enjoys the small cheap tiger and lion from IKEA. Last time we were there, they had these adorable bees! He really likes the bee! I wish I could get a photo of him carrying it, but they all turn out blurred
Mom used to order catnip from a really nice lady on ebay who sadly no longer sells there. It was great homegrown catnip at a great price, and she always included a couple adorable miniature stuffed animals fulla catnip. Twitchywoo fell madly in love with the toys, and carried them around, beat hell out of them, and was thrilled when we’d find them after he’d inextricably shoved 'em under furniture.
When we placed one order, no toys were included, so mom sent her a message, asking where we could get those wonderful toys. She explained she just bought cheap sets of little animal finger puppets from Chinese sellers on ebay or amazOMG, removed a buncha their stuffing, filled 'em w/catnip, and sewed closed their ends. Mom profusely thanked her, ordered a bunch of them, and turned all but a couple into catnip toys. She didn’t even hate making them. She packed in the catnip with a chopstick.
We gave a few to a friend whose home is a local cat rescue, gave the rest to our kitties, and they were as big a hit as always.
