I’ve been replaced
New (fake) friend edition!
Could that possumbly be some other species?
This is how it starts; an online friend on another forum started out by feeding a stray cat (“She’s not coming in!”), and ended up with a cat, a wife, her son, her son’s girlfriend, a dog and a new house.
The stray seems quite friendly but i just don’t think the house will be a good environment because we already have 4 cats (2 are ours and 2 is our roommates, and half of the cats are pretty sassy). My options right now are to either trap it, treat it, and then release it back. Or surrender it so it can get treatment and adoption. The cat looks rough, pretty sure it’s in the early stages of some kind of fungal skin issue and some signs of getting into some fights so i don’t think treating it and releasing it back out will be to its benefit.
At the moment i’m grappling with the guilt of trapping and turning it over to animal control, but i just can’t take it and someone needs to properly help it. At the moment i’m debating on when to trap it because animal control’s hours for dropping off animals is between 11-1pm so that doesn’t leave me a whole lot of time during my already busy week.
Trap Neuter Release is best for ferals, and this one sounds like it’s been a pet, and may be adoptable, if it goes to a shelter.
It’s a well established internet meme.
we had a “cat” like that in the backyard last night. i thought it was BuddyCat, at first. i called to him and this pointy little face looked up!
“hello, mr. 'possum”!
think i need some of these t-shirts:
from House of Swank
they have some great 'possum and raccoon designs!
I like this one by Matt Mitchell…
Sent this to my BF, and I bet he’ll order it.
I’m late to this discussion (maybe you’ve dealt with it already) but I wonder if the cat might possibly have a microchip ID, that could be found if you turn the cat over.
(OK, I reread my words before posting, and now want to clarify that I meant “turn the cat over to animal control”, as you mentioned — not “turn the cat over and look at its underside” )
I’ll see if i can grab it tomorrow morning, the cat mostly shows up around 7am for food, disappears until 6-7pm for more food. I had been hoping to see if it would come around mid-day because then i can minimize the time i would need to have it confined in a carrier and possibly stressed out (The animal center’s hours are 11a-1p). But looks like i’ll have to try to grab it when i can and wait. I could let it roam in my garage during that time but its messy in there and i also worry that i’ll have to corner it to grab it again and i’m trying to keep the whole thing the least traumatizing for it as i can make it i know i’m over complicating it but this is what my brain is like.
You’re thinking about how to cause the least harm. Seems like a good brain to me.
ChiliDog wants me to stop what i am doing and pay attention to her.
like “stop sewing and make with the treats” attention.
Why make books when you can give me TREATS!!!
