What a handsome guy. He’s lucky to get such a good family.
Clipped ear means trapped/neutered/released perhaps? Did the vet mention existence or not of naughty bits?

Checking for evidence of neutering (neutrality?) wss not the priority for this initial visit, so we don’t know. I know about ear clipping to mark neutered beasts but this clipping is much rougher and excessive.
He looks like a sweet guy. Kudos to Mrs. Axolotl for convincing him to come with her and both of you for bringing him into your home. Glad the vet has already had a look-see
Looks like trauma to me. Dog, fox, or human. Or damage from frostbite. Looks similar to this
I think you may be right. His ears do have a kinda crumpled appearance.
Our latest, her whiskers had all been clipped short. What kind of sicko would do that?
ETA: Oh, if it’s frostbite or other natural danger, that’s still bad, but at least not humans-are-the-worst bad.
The Beige Ones do seems to be extra special - ours would purr like mad and starfish the air when no one was in the room with him. He was one of the sweetest cats I’ve known.

…and now @Axolotl and Co have saved a Beige One, too! YAY!
A friend in high school had a cat that lost most of both ears to frostbite. She called him “The Fearless Earless”.
Biscuit is a very sweet guy, although he is bitey when he gets overstimulated.
Not only is he a dilute ginger, but his fur is tipped in the palest off-white, so he has a silvery shimmer, which doesn’t show up in photos.
I wonder if that’s associated with gingers. Both mine are like that. Particularly the Floof
oooooOOOOOOOOOooooo !!! That sounds amazing!
None of our past orange/beige/red kitties were bitey, but Young Topaz can be, esp when you awaken him b/c being so cute, you just hadta pet him.
He must be my familiar: when smol, I occasionally punched or slapped or kicked my mother when she (always very gently) woke me.
One of my neighbours said that he was possibly the most beautiful cat he’d ever seen, and considering that he’s really just a short haired tabby, I think it came down to the shimmer.
Biscuit is a great name for a Beige One, too, also XD
He started off as “Biscotti”, because he is the colour of almond biscotti (“Il Conte Almondo Biscotti”), but ended up as plain Biscuit.
I was as a veterinary technician for 30 years. For the “snip & tip” neuter and release they take just the tip of one ear off. Frost bitten ears have the distinctive straight line with more of the ear tip gone, as in Quiltbag’s photos.
What’s going on with Archie is he had a hematoma in both ears. Probably he had ear mites which are incredibly itchy and he scratched his ears so much the blood vessels burst. The skin separates from the cartilage as a big blood pillow forms, and when the blood is eventually reabsorbed the ear flap crinkles up like that. To get an ear hematoma to heal back to a normal looking ear you have catch it when it’s puffed up, make an incision on both sides and suture the ear flap flat against something fairly rigid. Back in ye olden days of darkrooms and dip tanks we used scrap bits of x-ray film. Nowadays they have plastic, cat ear-shaped forms.
Why thank you! That makes a lot of sense.
Archie must have been out in the wild for quite a while. He is not chipped, or at least none could be detected. We don’t know if he is neutered yet.
So far he mainly stays in one of the bedrooms. The other cats have not been messing with him, and he’s still pretty chill with them. He has been spraying the furniture which isnt fantastic, but thankfully IKEA furniture has removable covers.
My daughter’s best friend will be taking in Archie in a week’s time.
